Just a little story to hold you over. I was in art class (my last class one day) and the teacher said the girls could leave. So the girls (minus me and a few of my trans friends) left. This one guy (his name will be Z) looked at me and said "Go *insert birth name*. You're a girl." I shook my head and mumbled "No I'm not." The teacher, Mr. L, said boys could go. The boys left and I stayed sitting (just to crack a smile on my friends' faces). My trans friends got up and said "Come on August (my real name, Z. Get it right)." I got up and headed out with my friends to the pickup area. Z was getting on his bike and he saw me and one of my trans friends (his name will be D). "Hey *insert birth name*, why didnt you go when Mr. L said for girls to go?" I laughed without humour and sighed. "I'm nonbinary." "What's that?" Z asked. (I understand why he wouldn't know.) I glanced at D. "How do I explain it?" I asked him. He looked at Z and spoke. "It means she (*fringes at that pronoun*) doesn't identify as either gender." I smiled at D. Then, I can't remember if it was that day or later, but Z got mad at me because of something I said and he said, "What if I said there only two genders?" I got so pissed. I hate when people just ignore someone's gender like that.

Non-FictionI'm not gonna lie. Getting people to use your preferred pronouns is hard. Most social media websites only have male or female as an option. I hope that changes one day.
