「 CHAPTER TWO 」
❀ જ⁀➴
✉My dearest, Trixie, January 18th, 1972
⤿ I want to explain why I— what you think— left. I know that it must've hurt you, and I'm dearly sorry for that. I'm hoping by writing this, this journal full of my rambles, gets to you somehow and helps you understand what happened.
First, I'll start at the very beginning so then you won't be left with any questions as to why this might've happened to me.
On January 3rd was when I got your first letter.
You stand on the side of the sidewalk, staying as close as possible to your lawn. You open the mailbox, still in your robe as it was still morning and you usually didn't start your day until 10. You gave a small wave with a nod and smile to the dearest mailman, to which he only nodded acknowledgment.
Taking out the mail, which was only one letter and advertisements from the other neighbors, you quickly made your way back inside as you didn't like the bright shining from the sun. You knew exactly who this letter came from and you missed her so.
In fact, you haven't seen her in quite a long time. It almost makes you think of how much you regretted that decision but it was her choice in the first place, the least you could do was respect her wishes.
Opening the letter, you had a small smile. You couldn't help it, it was one of those smiles you get when you're just talking to a certain person.
I don't remember every word or phrase of it, I'm sorry, my dear. The only letter I've managed to keep throughout this journey was your last one that I got before I left. I've kept that one close to my heart, I would kill someone if they ever ruined it in front of my eyes.
I remember I put the letter in the box I always keep in the lower kitchen cabinet. The reason I kept your letters in a box under the cabinet is because you know how paranoid I am. I don't exactly trust anyone in this neighborhood. I'm sure I was just being dramatic.
You then got dressed to start the day. You did all of the usual stuff— changing into appropriate clothes, brushing your teeth, putting on accessories or jewelry, whatever you really do to get ready.
Once you were all dressed for the day, you left to go take the walk around the neighborhood. You usually did this because everyday during the walk, someone would suddenly appear and bring you on their own adventure. You really didn't have to try, it just kinda always happened and then it became a part of your routine.
Then, I took that stroll I always do. You know how I liked to take walks to get my mind running. And then, Julie, (you know her!) dragged me along with her to bake a cake. I don't really know why she was baking a cake, she didn't specify the reason. But I've been learning to just keep my mouth shut and go along with it.
