Jimin stepped closer to you, wrapping his arms around you tightly. His embrace was firm, yet surprisingly comforting. There was no discomfort, no sense of danger. In fact, against all logic, you felt something else stirring inside you—Were you actually falling for him?

"I spoke to the one who’s truly our enemy," Jimin whispered softly, his breath warm against your ear as his fingers gently combed through your hair. "I found out everything. And I love you with all my heart, with all my life."

His words lingered in the air, heavy with emotion. Your heart raced, not from fear, but from the growing confusion inside you. Could it really be true? Could Jimin, this dangerous man you had been conditioned to hate, truly be the one protecting you? Your mind swirled with doubt and suspicion.

"So... who is the real enemy, Jimin? Is it someone I know? Is it... him?" Your voice wavered as you asked, your thoughts drifting to someone you dreaded to name. The person who raised you, loved you—your own husband. Could he have been the one behind everything all along?

Jimin’s grip on you tightened ever so slightly, his fingers threading through your hair in a soothing motion. "Oh, my love," he murmured, his tone gentle yet evasive. "Why don’t we focus on something else for now, hmm? Why don’t we have some fun first?" His innocent smile contrasted sharply with the weight of your question. His face looked so genuine, almost childlike, and yet... how could he dodge your question so easily?

You blinked, momentarily stunned by his suggestion. "Fun?" Your mind was racing, trying to grasp the situation. But Jimin, as if sensing your hesitation, quickly followed up, his voice softer, more apologetic. "I mean... why don’t you take a break? You’ve been through so much, and I don’t want you to be stressed. You could explore the garden, maybe? It’s beautiful this time of year. You can pick flowers and make a necklace out of them. I’m sure it would be fun, right?"

He was worried about you, and there was something in his voice that made you want to believe him, to think that he really cared. But still, you couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn’t quite right.

"Sure... I’ll take a walk later," you replied, trying to match his gentle tone. You stepped closer to him, resting a hand on his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart beneath your palm. "But why don’t you go freshen up first? Change into something comfortable."

Jimin smiled, his eyes softening as he leaned down to kiss your forehead. "Yes, my love. I’ll do that right now." He disappeared into the changing room, leaving you alone in the room, your thoughts a tangled mess of conflicting emotions.

As soon as he left, you grabbed your phone, quickly typing a message to Taehyung.

"Taehyung, where are you?"

"Oh my dear, I’ve tried calling you so many times. You didn’t answer. I’m in a meeting right now, trying to figure out how to get you away from that bastard."

Your fingers hovered over the screen, hesitating before you typed.

"Taehyung, can I video call you? I need to talk."

Message seen

"It’s an important meeting, love. I can’t right now. Don’t you think it’s more important to figure out how to get you out of there and take revenge? I’ll message you after this, okay?"

Frustration flared in your chest as you read his response.

"Okay," you typed back, but as soon as you hit send, the message didn’t go through. Unable to send.

You tried again. Nothing. "Tae?" you typed, but it was useless. Every message failed to deliver.

You stared at your phone, heart pounding with a mixture of fear and confusion. Why wasn’t the message going through? Had Taehyung blocked you, or was something else happening? You couldn’t shake the creeping suspicion that something was very, very wrong.

Just then, Jimin’s voice broke through your thoughts. "Honeyyy! Do I look good?" he called out from the doorway, his tone playful and light.

You turned to see him standing there, looking at you like an excited child. His innocent expression tugged at something deep inside you. "Of course, my love," you replied softly, forcing a smile. But as he approached, his gaze shifted, becoming more serious.

"Why are you wearing such a fancy dress? Did the maids give you this?" he asked, frowning slightly, concern etched into his features.

"Yes," you nodded, smoothing down the dress with your hands.

Jimin sighed, shaking his head. "Ah, they’re so foolish sometimes. That dress is for another day, not today. You should be comfortable, my love. Go to your room—you’ll find a new wardrobe filled with your favorite clothes. Pick anything you like."

Before you could respond, he leaned down and kissed your cheek, sending a shiver down your spine. You nodded, feeling your heart beat faster. Was this affection real, or was he simply playing a part?

You made your way back to your room, and sure enough, when you opened the wardrobe, you found rows of clothes—every piece something you would have chosen yourself. You smiled despite everything, pulling out a soft, casual outfit. As you changed, you admired the way the clothes fit perfectly, as if they were made for you. "It’s so pretty!" you whispered, twirling in front of the mirror like a carefree girl for a moment.

When you returned to Jimin, you couldn’t help but feel lighter, almost... happy. You found yourself skipping, almost like a child, your heart fluttering as you approached him.

Jimin looked at you, his eyes shining with adoration. "Oh, my beautiful wife," he said, his voice thick with emotion.

You stopped in your tracks, your heart nearly skipping a beat. Wife? Did he just call you his wife? You stared at him, wide-eyed.

"Wife? What do you mean by that, Jimin? We’re just... we’re not even married. We’ve only just started... whatever this is."

Jimin smiled gently, reaching out to take your hand. "Sooner or later, you will be my wife," he said, his voice full of certainty. "You’re meant to be mine, and I’m meant to be yours." He pulled you into a tight embrace, holding you close to him. "I love you."

Your breath caught in your throat. His words sounded so real, so genuine, but the doubt in your heart wouldn’t let you accept it fully. You needed answers. You pulled back slightly, looking up into his eyes. "I... I love you too, Jimin. But there’s something I need to talk to you about."

To be continued...
