Another long day at work. I worked at an Italian restaurant in Los Angeles, California. It was the busiest night of the week. Friday. My boss asked me to work late since another one of the waiters was sick.

I turned my head to see Lucy, the hostess, walk three boys to a booth. She nodded her head at me which signaled to take their orders.

"Hi I'm Hallie, I'll be your waitress tonight. Could I start y'all off with some drinks?" I asked. "Aw she's got that cute southern accent." One of them joked. I laughed. "Uh could I get a Dr. Pepper?" one asked. "Yeah what would y'all two want?" I asked.

"I'll just have a water." "I'll have a Sprite." the other two answered. "Alright so a Dr. Pepper, Sprite, and a water." I needed to make sure I was correct, no need to cause a scene just because I messed up the drinks.

I walked away back into the kitchen and got all three glasses. I filled them with the requested beverages, and set them on the tray. As I was walking back to their table, a little boy ran under my feet, as he bolted out of the boys bathroom. Of course, the drinks spilled everywhere. On the floor, on my clothes, and of course, everyone saw EVERYTHING.

This is so embarrassing. I could feel my cheeks heating up from embarrassment. I got on my knees and started to pick everything up while another waitress brought some rags to clean up the drinks that were now running across a portion of the tile.

Once everything was cleaned up, I filled up the glasses again and walked a different way just incase the floor was a little bit slippery. I got to the table and all the boys looked at me, and started smiling. "What?" I asked as I sat the drinks down on the table.

"Are you okay? We just saw that happen." Dr. Pepper boy asked. "Oh yeah, I'm fine." I smiled. "Are y'all ready to order?" I asked. "Yeah, I'll have the Shrimp Fettuccini Alfredo"

"I'll have the cheese pizza."

"I'll have the lasagna."

I wrote down the orders and took it straight to the chef. He immediately started cooking it. Business started slowing down so there weren't as many people in the restaurant.

They asked for the bill so I gave it to them. I took it back to the machine and did what I had to do. I brought back their cards. "Thank y'all for coming tonight! Have a good night!" I smiled and walked away.

I watched as they all got up and left through the front doors.

There was something about that one boy that just drew me in. I want to know more about him. I don't even know what his name is. He asked me if I was okay, when most boys, would laugh at me and completely embarrass me even more.
