** Trigger warning - dead body, serious / fatal wounds **

Look at this photograph, Every time I do, it makes me laugh.
How did our eyes get so red? And what the hell is on Joey's head?
And this is where I grew up, I think the present owner fixed it up.
I never knew we'd ever went without, The second floor is hard for sneaking out.
And this is where I went to school, Most of the time had better things to do.
Criminal record says I broke in twice, I must have done it half a dozen times.
I wonder if it's too late, Should I go back and try to graduate?
Life's better now than it was back then, If I was them, I wouldn't let me in.

Sam stared out of the window, not really paying attention to the scenery, as the impala sped down the highway, Dean singing along to AcDc, and his mind wandered to the past.

*Then*
"Mr Winchester" The stern looking woman in tweed and hair scraped back harshly into a bun at the back of her head, at the front of the classroom announced Sam's arrival to the class, and he grimaced inwardly as he forced a smile to acknowledge the teacher's greeting.

He hated being the new kid, this was the third high school he'd been too, and he was getting sick of being the new kid all the time.

"Kindly take a seat Mr Winchester" The teacher gestured to the last remaining available seat in the class, next to a dark haired, shy looking girl at the back of the class, wearing a faded Zeplin t shirt, who hadn't looked up like the rest of the class.

Sam gave the teacher a half smile, adjusted his backpack and slowly made his way to the vacant seat, as the teacher continued with the class.

The girl looked up into Sam's eyes as he slung his bag under the desk and his heart nearly stopped.

"Howdy" She murmured with a dazzling smile, and Sam just stared.

Then she giggled at him breaking his trance as he hurriedly took his seat.

"Effie" She whispered with a smile.

"Sam" He twitched a nervous smile back, then swallowed hard looking back to the teacher at the front of the class, trying to concentrate.
*Now*

"SAM!" Dean's gravelly voice barged through Sam's thoughts loud and clear.

"Uh? Yeah!" Sam snapped back to reality, sitting up and glancing over to his brother, before clearing his throat and starting out of the windscreen.

"We're here" Dean raised his eyebrows at his younger brother as he shook his head,

"You ok?" Dean asked genuinely.

Sam turned to look at Dean, his eyebrows arching in the middle, the corners of lips turning down, before he twitched a smile and nodded.

"Yeah Dean, I'm fine" Sam frowned his reply and slid out of the car.

Dean scowled at his brother as he got out of the car, processing Sam's behaviour, before getting out of the car himself.
The pair entered the police station and walked up to the front desk.

"Agents Osbourne and Dio" Dean gruffed out as he and Sam flashed their fake FBI id's.
"We're here about the recent animal attacks." He grinned.

The young police officer at the desk looked up with a frown.

"Since when do the feds get involved in animal attacks?" He questioned Sam and Dean's validity.

Dean glanced at Sam with pursed lips, Sam simply drew in a breath as he raised his eyebrows before Dean turned back to the officer with a smug grin.
