Virgil wasn't exactly the type of guy who enjoyed road trips. He let out a quiet sigh as he placed his luggage in the trunk of the car along with everyone else's bags. Sure, he liked the quiet calmness that came with it, of being able to just slip his headphones on and stare out the window for hours on end with nothing on his mind. It was relaxing, and it put him at ease. He liked having nothing to do, and he liked to be able to just sit silently and listen to music without being judged.
However, with the silence that was present in the car, other problems arose. It happened every time Virgil has ever gone on a road trip in his entire life. Eventually, he would have to pee. And because of everyone else in the car looking so at ease, not wanting to be interrupted, or just wanting to get to the damned hotel already, well—these things always made Virgil reluctant about speaking up for his needs. He didn't want to be a problem, and he didn't want the trip to go on hold just for him. He swears, everybody else in the world had bladders of steel.
This caused him a lot of problems with road trips, because within minutes of realizing he had to pee, he would send himself spiraling. His anxiety would grow and grow and grow until he felt tears pricking his eyes, or until he was on the brink of a panic attack. He would force himself to calm down, and he would suffer in silence either until they got to wherever the hell they were going, or until he couldn't hold it anymore and had to shyly pipe up from the back of the car and ask for a stop.
He hadn't wet himself on a road trip.... In the past couple of years, at least....so he wasn't too scared about that, he was just worried about inevitably having to ask for a stop. It never felt like the right time. Especially if everyone else was deep in conversation, laughing and talking over the music together. That was almost as bad as speaking up into a silent car. His reputation was known amongst his friends, Remus and Janus, so whenever he'd take a trip with them, they always planned regular stops, and were very attentive to his needs, used to his pee dancing and such.
But this wasn't just another week-long summer trip to a Florida beach with his two best friends, this was a week long winter break vacation with not only Remus and Janus, but three other people.
And sure, he knew these other people, but he didn't know them very well. Roman was Remus's twin brother, so of course he'd seen the annoyingly charming prick at Remus's house before or around school. Even in some of his classes, back when they were in high school. Patton was one of Janus's cousins, and he'd practically been living with Janus since junior year of high school. He was very kind and funny, and liked to hang out with them. So, of the three, Virgil knew Patton the best, and would even consider him a good friend.
In fact, Virgil, Remus, and Janus loved Patton so much that they all decided to share a four bedroom apartment now that they had recently started college, and Virgil was getting to know him even better. The first semester of their freshmen year of college had actually been fun, and Virgil hadn't expected that at all. Aside from the fun that came with sharing a home with your best friends, his rent had been cut into quarters. So that was always a plus.
And Logan—well. He'd seen Logan around a couple of times, but he did know his name at least, from high school. He was always the leader of some kind of club, head of the student counsel. Highest test scores in the district, and graduated as the Valedictorian. He had also been Patton's boyfriend for a while now, so he'd seen him around a lot more over the past year.
He just hoped Logan didn't end up breaking Patton's heart or something, because he was actually a pretty cool dude to hang around with. It was weird, he didn't feel as anxious around Logan as he usually would with people he didn't know that well. It probably had something to do with the fact that Logan was a nerd. A big ol' dork at heart, and while at first he seemed closed off and anti-social, once you got to know him, he'd get to talking more and more, and Virgil found that they actually had a lot of things in common, a lot of things they could talk to each other about. They'd even had an argument over a conspiracy theory. Janus had been proud of him for that.
