-Stella-

My alarm goes off.

Brriiinggg brrrriinggg.

I ignore it, rolling over to turn it off. My hand falls on nothing but air, and that's when I remember. Of course, we've just moved in, and I'd left my alarm clock on the windowsill. Still feeling tired, I open my eyes and sit up, pushing myself off the bed and walking over to silence that annoying alarm. Afterwards, I stretch my limbs. It seems I fell asleep in an awkward position again, ugh. Hopefully, I'll soon get a new mattress.

But, no time for stressing about that, I had just under an hour to be ready. Unwilling, I walk over to my already lain out clothes. They were only out since I hadn't unpacked yet and wouldn't until later today. I pick up the clothes and get dressed for the day. Quickly brushing my hair and not caring much for makeup, I was never interested in using that anyway.

I was ready. First day at a new school, though this time I have to actually try to make friends. It seems like we won't be moving houses anytime soon. I had no one to actually say goodbye to, as both my parents had already gone to work. I left the house and pulled out my phone, using the maps to try and locate the best walk to this school. It was a pretty sunny day, although the wind seemed to contrast that, making it feel like my fingers were freezing off as I held my phone.

I walked for about five minutes before I saw the school enter my view. Wow, it was quite big.. navigating through this seems like a nightmare. I turn off my phone, returning it to my pocket, before heading in. Inside, I realise just how big this place was and the fact there were multiple floors. Looking around, I spotted a friendly looking girl standing by herself and approached her.

"Excuse me?" I ask her.

She looked up from whatever she was doing and smiled at me.

"Hello, you must be the new student?" As the words leave her mouth I feel a wave of annoyance wash over me, her voice was joyful and friendly, she obviously recognised I was new and is trying to make it seem like she loves the school, and then I notice why, she has a prefect badge. They always do this. But I keep my cool and nod.

"Yes. I was wondering if you could help me find where I can get my timetable." I try to be as polite as possible, and the girl seems to have not noticed my anger that was stirring in my heart.

"Follow me, I'll take you there!" Her smile brightens. She seems nice.

"Thank you."

I follow her through many hallways as we begin to make our way there, in awkward silence, though I don't mind it so much. It'd be easier to not get annoyed at her anyways, or so I thought. Because she decides to try conversing with me.

"So, what's your name? I'm Irene!" She looks at me, with that same smile. I look back, though my smile wasn't as bright as hers, and it felt fake. Well, it was, but she wouldn't need to know such a thing.

"Stella. Nice to meet you." I try to come across as friendly, though I couldn't help feeling annoyance towards this cheerful girl. She was happy, and it annoyed me because I knew she was pretending like she was welcoming me into the best place ever. It's just a school, isn't it?

"I love that name! So, why's it you moved to this school?"

That smile still stuck to her face, widening as we continued to speak. She looked 'genuinely' happy. If you were trying to fool a rock. I hated it, all this fake happiness. But I convinced myself that now wasn't the time for hate, I needed to make new friends here if I wanted to survive longer than two days. Unless this school was different, but I doubt such thing.
