The Huntress

Chapter 2

We continue to run south as we pass through the Oklahoma border. Just a few more hours and we will enter Alpha Hazes territory and initiate the attack. My stomach is in knots and I'm pretty positive I'm ready for it.

But as we near the forest towards the south of Oklahoma, I come to an abrupt stop. I sense some wolves approaching. I order my team to climb into the trees, to rid our smell from the ground.

I tap open the mind link and say, "wait until we know how many wolves there are. If it's less than 10, we drop right in front of them. If it's more , I want the guys to start taking in the trees to the right and drop and wait for us to bait them back that way, then you will ambush them from behind." Everyone have a swift nod of the head and we waited, anticipating what was to come.

I finally seem the wolves, they crept up, sniffing the forest floor that we stood on 5 minutes before. I counted out the wolves in the pack link ," 1.gray fur, 2. Calico fur, 3.creme fur, 4. Black and white fur, 5. Brown fur. That's it, drop on 3. 1.......2........3."

Each of us descended from the trees in unison, landing with a thud. It took the wolves by surprise as they barely turned around when we pounced on them. We didn't even phase. I took out my silver knife and plunged it into the mouth of the first snapping wolf that came at me. It whined and fell to the ground, blood seeping from it's mouth. Just as I did this, Andrew had ripped the brown wolfs heart right from his chest .

In a matter of two more minutes, the wolfs were dead. It wasn't the plan to kill them, but nobody was getting in the way. We grabbed the wolfs body's and his them in the nearest shrubbery possible .

Then, in form, we crept through their forest. I expected more wolves to come for us but we made it to the clearing where their little village started. I stopped the team and said through the link, "this was a little too easy. I don't know what to expect. Just remember our mission, kill anyone who gets in the way. No mercy." They all agreed and Diana and Andrew crept out first. Running to the side of their fairly large pack house. Then, Alex  and I crept right up to the front porch as the other took around back.

I took a deep breathe, my wolf was in such a frantic state and I didn't understand why. I shook it off and counted to four in the link. On 4 we busted in the doors, drawing out the tranquilizer guns, I shot anyone in sight. Many people were about to phase as they got shot, some shot in wolf form. None of them were dead but they'd be out for a good 45 minutes. We went through each floor , clearing every room. At the top floor, a smell was driving me crazy. But my train of thoughts were interrupted as the largest wolf I had ever seen stood at the end of the dark hall. I knew it was Haze.

I smirked, even though I could not see his shadow, even with our high abilities and senses, it was too dark to see details. "I finally caught you, haze," I whispered, "it's my turn." I heard a growl and I quickly drew my gun, at the same time as my team. They let me do the honors. It was exceptionally dark tho and I hope i hit what I was aiming for. His heart. But as I fired an the bullet hit, a horrible feeling came over me. It felt like something ripped through my left shoulder.

I screamed and doubled over. I could feel warm liquid on my hands, before I blacked out.

I woke up, in a darkly lit hospital room. My hands chained to the bed. "No. Oh god. No," I said , frantically. I pulled a hobby pin out of my hair and picked the lock off the handcuffs. I rubbed my wrist and jumped up. My shoulder was bandaged and sore but I had no time to worry. I was in my leather pants but I had a white t shirt with the sleeves and midriff cut off on. I ripped the wire out of my side and inner elbow.

I went to the door and listened for sounds outside. There was one heart beat. I looked around and grabbed a scalpel from the little doctors tray. I took a deep breath and there the door open. Sticking the large man guarding my door directly in his jugular. He made a few gurgling noises and I kicked him in the head.

I tried to mind link my the but my only response was Andrew. I could sense him in a room down the hall and burst in to free him. We, quickly, left the rooms and ran down the halls. We needed to find the others, and I was getting worried. I couldn't hear a single heartbeat left in the hospital.

We were both frantic and breathing heavily. "What do we do, Serenity," Andrew looked in my eyes with sincere worry. I grabbed both his shoulders and said, "we prepare for the worst. We must fight to our deaths ,Andrew." He took a steady breath and nodded, "it'll be a privilege to fight along side you, alpha." I smiled and hugged him. Only for a second before I pulled away and yelled for him to follow. I seem a set of glass double automatic doors. They didn't open when we approached so we just kicked the glass out.

Once outside, the scene in front of me, had me feeling betrayed. Alex, Diana, lynn, and Carlos stood along side hazes members. Slick smirks on their faces as they stared at Andrew and I. "See, I knew exactly what they would do," Lynn laughed. Hazes beta emerged from the people and said, "good work, the alpha will be very pleased." I growled and yelled, "traitors!" They all laughed and Alex said, "you can't kill him. It's impossible."

Andrew was growling and said, "you should all be beheaded for treason!" Diana looked at him with a sigh and said, "too bad that's what your fate is, Andrew. You could've been a good asset to us." "My loyalty is to Serenity," he growled. I growled with him and said, "you betrayed our home pack. How? And why? To be some sick beasts like the rest of hazes pack?"

Lynn growled and said, "you don't understand Alpha Haze! He's the best alpha I've ever seen. And soon you will see it too. Wether he is a monster or not, we've always stood for him." My wolf sneered at her and it was confusing but I just assumed it was from anger. We wanted to kill these traitors.

"So you just killed your fellow pack members with us back there... For what," I hissed. All of them tensed and Alex said, "those brave wolves offered themselves as part of the bigger plan. They died Heroes!"

Andrew and I laughed now and I said, "the only heroes here will be me and Andrew after we wipe you out." And with that, Andrew and I charged.

Straight for our old team members and their new found family.
