The Plan

AUBREON

─────────────────────

The dinner went by with us devouring the dish being served to us. From appetizer to dessert, everything was delightful and light to the stomach. I heard it was Thomas who prepared the menu together with Georgia, which at first sounded odd since the couple have two different tastes when it comes to food.

We sat in a glass rectangle chair, all prepared to match our comfort. Not gonna lie, the soft cushion on my chair was so soft that I almost forgot about the problems I was carrying.

Half the time I listened to their chatter and the other half I spent contemplating whether to talk to Athelo after the dinner or tomorrow when things settle. I was being indecisive about my only two choices.

I don't know how things went after I entertained myself with alcohol. In hopes of letting the alcohol do the talking for me, I let alcohol fill up my stomach. I cannot handle the emotions and stress it takes to face this problem.

It may look like I'm overreacting, heck I am. No one here has an idea how hard I tried for Athelo to not follow in my footsteps. No one knows how I wanted him to live normally and freely without the grasp of petty problems such as this.

Athelo is my son and I at least, under decency, have a say in his decision.

I can't act up during the event. As I said, I let the alcohol do what it's supposed to do. I can't just watch Athelo and the rest of the youth waste their lives in this organization sober.

The next thing knew the passing on ended. I did not remember the details of the speech or whatever we did. I can't even remember what Athelo said in his speech. Everything was a blur and let me tell you, it took a few bottles to make me this way.

Now, I'm in my room. The room I was supposed to share with Angelica. I decided to retreat in my chambers while the rest of the ton, including Angelica, were still partying.

So here I am.

All alone in this room with nothing but the deafening quietness. I threw my coat on the ground earlier as I slammed my exhausting figure to the cushion.

My thoughts were running wary of my current situation. Pitying myself for letting this burden fall right in my lap.

I fished out my phone from my back pocket and immediately dialed Sage's number. Usually, I would check the time if she's on working hours, but right now I'm desperate. I need her.

I memorize her numbers like the alphabet. I've sobered up now. A walk back to my room served its purpose.

With three rings, she answered my call. My heart just did a summersault when I heard her voice.

"Hey Reon...how's your day?" she said without questioning why I called.

Just the thought of her answering my calls while she's busy is enough to lift my mood. I'm one of her priorities.
