as days passed, the rupture between eveline and thomas deepened. despite his attempts to reconcile, she remained resolute in her anger. eveline longed for the thomas she once knew, the friend and confidant who stood by her side through thick and thin. the girl yearned for the simpler days of childhood, when their bond was unbreakable and their adventures endless. but now, she found herself grappling with feels of heartache.

despite the disturbance in their personal relationship, thomas and eveline continued to fulfill their duties. thomas remained committed to his peaky blinders responsibilities, while eveline carried out her shifts at the garrison. even with the tension between the two, their lives continued much as they had before.

at the garrison, thomas, eveline, john, arthur, and polly arrived for a family meeting. the atmosphere was tense, with an awkward silence hanging between thomas and eveline. sensing her discomfort, tommy placed a gentle hand on her back, but eveline quickly moved away, choosing to sit with arthur on the other side of the table.

thomas noticed her avoidance and started to grow impatient.

continuing on with the family meeting, thomas asked john, "what's troubling you?"

john then cleared his throat and began discussing challenges he faced since martha's passing, highlighting the struggles with his children.

eveline interjected with a heartfelt sentiment, "god takes the best ones first, you know."

john acknowledged her words with a nod of appreciation.

meanwhile, thomas grew increasingly impatient, offering money. he attempted to wrap up the meeting with a blunt question.

"is that it, john?"

"enough thomas," spoke eveline, sensing his attitude. she continued, "perhaps it would be best to do this meeting without you."

aunt polly joined in the scolding, shooting thomas an admonishing look. this caused thomas to exhale sharply.

polly then redirected the conversation back to john, who revealed his plans to remarry for the sake of his children. the unexpected news left everyone in the room exchanging surprised glances.

"ah, does this poor girl even know you're planning to marry her, or are you gonna spring it on her outta nowhere?" eveline teased the shelby brother.

john hesitated before calmly responding, "i've already proposed, and she said yes."

thomas, without looking at the group, lit a cigarette and remarked, "i think there's a shell about to land and go bang."

john stared at the table, reluctant to continue.

"it's, er.. it's lizzie stark," he finally admitted.

the group chuckled. they were well aware of lizzie's reputation.

tying to lighten the mood, polly added, "john, lizzie stark's a strong woman, and i'm sure she provides a fine service for her customers."

"she'll make sure you're well taken care of, won't she?" eveline teased.

this earned a playful elbow from arthur, who was laughing along. however, john's reaction was far from amused.

fuming, he demanded, "i won't hear that word."

thomas innocently probed, "what word is that, john?" knowing full well what it was.

"you know what word that is."

"everybody bloody knows.." arthur, still chucking, tried to interject, but john cut him off, declaring fiercely, "everybody can go to hell.."

tommy continued to provoke john, clicking his buttons even further.
