Mina Oliveira stood by herself, lost amongst the chaos on the streets of Manhattan. She stayed completely still, almost as if her feet were superglued to the pavement below. She didn't know what to do except for watch the heartbreaking scene unfold before her own very eyes.

The city that she had come to know and love, had became nothing more than just a pile of rubble and gritty dust that clung to the bottom of her combat boots. She watched as raging fires had practically consumed everything in its pathway, spreading as far as to the edge of the borough, where the Brooklyn bridge had laid.

The air was filled with thick but harsh smoke that burned the girl's lungs with every breath that she took in. She could barely see a foot in front of her due to the thick fog that covered her field of vision, making her more vulnerable to any sort of injury.

The teen girl only knew that the street was crowded due to the frightened individuals who had shoved past her frozen figure, desperate to find an escape to the tragedy that had suddenly struck the city. Nobody paid any attention to her, allowing her to weave through the crowd with ease.

Mina carefully stepped forward, keeping her eyes peeled for any suspicious activity. Her golden sword, that shined in the sunlight, was tightly clutched in her hand, just in case she needed to wield it against any evil forces that wanted to make their presence known to her unsuspecting figure.

With every step she took, her heart became heavy with despair at the tragic sight. The once busy streets, were now covered in piles of bloodied and lifeless bodies of individuals, who had all been killed in a gruesome manner.

And those who had yet to succumb to death, were being meticulously treated by dozens of medical personnel, who were desperate to save them before it was too late.

The girl didn't know who any of these people were, all of them just being mere blurry faces that she had probably passed by once or twice in life but she still grieved for them and their loved ones. Her heart was aching from the heavy pain.

In her eyes, they were just innocent souls, all with their own unique life stories. And they all felt similar emotions to her, love, happiness, sadness, anxiety, pain and anger. But the difference was that she was still on walking on this earth, while these unknown people had forcibly met the face of death. They had all been taken too soon in her opinion.
