New York, Financial District.
8:14 AM

Karla was walking through the Financial District area, the imposing and gigantic buildings were arranged in rows for each block that she passed along the sidewalk, making her feel like a small spider in the midst of so much movement that was around. It was the first time that she circulated through these luxurious and elegant corners of New York.
Men in dark suits and elegant-looking women walked quickly along the sidewalk and across streets as if it were a parade while they were busy talking on the phone. She never thought that she would end up being surrounded by those powerful business executives.

.....

Miguel was quite overwhelmed by the intense traffic that occurred on the streets of New York in the early hours of the morning. He raised his wide wrist to glance at the Rolex and realized that he was already 14 minutes late than his usual arrival time at his company. He grunted heavily as he looked out the dark window at the line of cars not moving a single meter on the street.

-"Ugh...James, how long have we been stuck in the middle of this traffic?..."- he questioned his driver with an annoyed tone.

-"About 27 minutes, sir..."- James spoke, looking at Miguel out of the corner of his eye from the rearview mirror.

-"And I'm about 15 minutes late..."- Miguel murmured, while the car horns sounded from outside. Suddenly a loud crash was heard in the back of his immense dark-colored car. James got out of his seat to review what had happened.
Miguel also got out of the car roughly to see what had happened, he felt like he was going to explode like dynamite at any moment.

-"Hey! What's wrong with you?! Don't you see that there is a car stopped in front of you to keep moving in the middle of this fucking traffic?!" Miguel raised his voice with a tone of anger towards the taxi driver from the car behind.

-"I'm very sorry sir, my handbrake went out..."- explained the taxi driver, stunned by the scolding.

-"You better have insurance, because this vehicle is worth more than your own life..."-Miguel grabbed the man by his shirt.

The taxi driver was surprised by Miguel's treatment, so he did not know how to respond, much less where else to beg his apology. Miguel moved away from the man so as not to get angry, because he did not want to be the attraction of the public eye around him that was observing the sudden situation. He straightened his suit and looked at the time once more, it was too late to continue arguing.

-"James, take care of it, I'll walk..."- he ordered, taking long, light steps across the street in the direction of his work. It wasn't much of a problem since he was only a few blocks away from the building. He walked at a fast pace so as not to continue delaying his arrival, pushing people in his path without bothering to apologize. He scolded under his breath about how his day was already going and it wasn't even half a day yet.

.....

Karla, just two blocks away from the building, took her papers in her arms to give a final check to make sure everything was in order, when a tall man violently collided and ran over her in her path, causing a few leaves to fall to the ground. .

-"Oye look, cabrón, you could hurt someone!" -Karla exclaimed to the man, picking up the papers from the floor.

The man stopped her steps violently to turn towards her and face her. -"How did you just called me?!"- The tall man questioned, approaching with a frown clearly noticeable between his eyebrows, showing a feeling of annoyance.

-"Be careful where you are going because at this pace you will only run over people in your path."- Karla answered seriously, picking up her belongings from the ground without letting herself be left behind in the discussion.

-"And do you think I care? Well, there are many people like me who have more important things to do...Not like you, you are nobody..."- The man responded rudely, trying to intimidate her and then he leaves continuing on his way at a fast pace.

-"...Amargado..."- Karla growled lowly and rolled her eyes, organizing her papers in her hands and watching as the man walked into the distance, losing the sight of him. Likewise, two blocks from arriving at the business building, she continued with her journey to her direction.

When she arrived at her final destination, she walked through the gigantic glass doors entering the immense lobby. The dazzling floors reflected her figure and marked the sound of her short heels with each step as she walked. The high ceiling had a dazzling cold lighting that reached the entire panorama, it was like entering the future itself. The elevator doors were right in front, officials, agents, secretaries and workers were leaving the elevator and filling up again with more people rushing in.
Karla, in the midst of those elegant and businesslike characters, felt as if she were worthless compared to them, even having graduated 2 years ago with honors from the university, she felt that she was still very 'newbie' to these things.

The elevator doors jingle, opening immediately and giving way to the top floor of the large building. Karla takes a deep breath and approaches the secretarial desk to announce her arrival.

-"Good morning, I'm Karla Dorado, I'm here for the job interview with Mr. O'Hara..."-

-"You're just in time, you can take a seat, Mr. O'Hara will see you in a few minutes."- Lyla answers with a wide smile from ear to ear, Karla nods her head and returns the gesture politely. She took a seat on the bench looking at the area around her, it was so elegant and so modern that she couldn't believe that her best friend Jessica worked here.

-"Karla, you came!"- Karla heard in the distance, she turned her head to find out who was speaking to her, she smiled immediately when she noticed that Jessica was approaching her with open arms.

-"Jess!"- She returned the hug with force.  -"Oye, this place is incredible... I didn't know you worked here."-

-"Yes, it's a pretty big place... but what about you? Are you ready for your interview?..."-Jessica questions to know if her friend felt prepared.

-"I'm a little nervous..."- Karla looks at the resume in her hands.

-"You'll be fine, the boss is kind of...intimidating...but then you get used to it..."- Jessica encourages her, Lyla interrupts the small talk by announcing to Karla that it was time for her interview with the Big Boss.

-"Miss Dorado. Mr. O'Hara is waiting for you in his office."-

Karla nods and says goodbye to her friend with a smile. Jessica gives a thumbs up in positivity, as she watches her friend enter through the large door.

Karla takes a big breath through her nostrils and exhales deeply, Lyla took the knob between her fingers and slowly opens the door allowing the girl to enter to begin her interview.
Once Karla was inside, she felt like a bucket of cold water was falling on her head when she saw that the head and boss of the company was the same tall man who ran over her with light steps just a few blocks from the entrance of the building having a little discussion involved, minutes ago.

-"Mierda...."-
