Last-minute rehearsal and Performance

The next day, Jay was on the couch watching Sportscenter at 6:30 AM waiting on the bus which usually comes around 6:45 to 6:50 however, he wouldn't need to ride on the school bus as a knock came to the door. Thinking it was Sinjin, Jay looked at the peephole and to his amazement saw Ryder Daniels at his door.  Mrs. O'Connor said, "Honey, who is it?" Jay said, "A guy who goes to my school," Mrs. O'Connor said, "Sinjin?" Jay said, "No, another guy. I'll check what he wants,"    

Jay opens the door and asks, "Hi Ryder, What do you want?" Ryder said, "Grab your stuff, and let's go," Jay said, "Where? School? The school doesn't open until 7," Ryder said, "Actually it's open now and come on let's we can to the sound check and rehearsal before school starts," Jay said, "OK let me go a water bottle and my bookbag," As Jay grabs his things, Jay's mom appear and introduces herself to Ryder. Mrs. O'Connor said, "Hi I'm Jay's mom, what's your name," Ryder said, "Ryder, nice to meet you, Mrs. O'Connor," Jay's mom said, "Please call me Rhonda and I'm sure we met before maybe," Ryder said, "Maybe," Jay has his things and asked his mom, "Do you want me to turn off the TV? Jay's mom said, "Keep it on, I want to tune into the local news for the traffic. You kids have a good day at school," Jay said, "Bye Mom, Love You," Jay's mom said, "Love You too and Come again any time Ryder," and Jay and Ryder headed to school.  

About 15-20 minutes later, Sinjin, Ryder, Jay, and the band members showed up at Blackbox Theater for the sound check and rehearsal. Sinjin asked Jay, "You're here early," Jay said, "Ryder picked me up. I'm guessing you told him where I lived?" Sinjin said, "How do you know it was me," Jay said, "Because you know where anyone in this school lives,".  Andre and Tori who were missing however, the rest of them still went through with the motions of the soundcheck, and this time Ryder's mike was working. 

It was 7:15 AM, 15 minutes from school starting and Tori and Andre were still no-shows, Ryder tried to text Tori a few times with no reply and asked others if had Tori's number which Sinjin and Jay said they did and texted her and suddenly both Tori and Andre showed up and Jay sent a follow-up text saying, "Never mind, you're here," Ryder asked, "Where have you guys been? I've texted you twice," Tori said, "Getting breakfast and I blocked your number," Ryder said, "What about Sinjin and Jay?" Tori said, "Sinjin is also blocked and Jay isn't yet," and she got two buzzes from her phone from Jay. Tori looked at Jay on the catwalk and said, "Got your texts, Jay," Jay gave a smile and thumbs up. Tori said, "I'm here now, let's do this," As Andre got ready on the guitar

They did a quick 10-minute rehearsal and finished it and got to their first class on time. Then came time for the performance. Julien introduced Tori and Ryder as Lane was on the catwalk making sure that Jay and Sinjin didn't put Ryder's mike on mute again. Julien told the band including Andre on guitar, Jay and Sinjin, and then Tori and Ryder and everyone said they were ready.

Tori and Ryder gave their performance and unlike the Full Moon Jam, Ryder sang and the performance went without a problem and the class and Julien gave them a round of applause, and Tori and Ryder hugged each other then Tori realized who she hugged and went over to Andre who she also hugged and Julien said, "See you guys do work well with each other. I'll give Tori an A and Ryder a B,"      

Ryder said, "Why a B?" Julien said, "For not performing at the Full Moon Jam," Ryder said, "But..." Before Andre interrupted him and said, "Hey, you got a passing grade, take the win," Ryder said, "But Jay got an A- and he's not that good of a singer," Jay said, "and you wonder why you're mike was muted in the Full Moon Jam," Ryder said, "Hey, I took you to those USC games," 

Julien said, "OK enough people, Andre is right Ryder. Take the win,"  Then the bell rang, and class was dismissed. Tori said, "Really you took Jay to games?" Ryder said, "He's one of the few students who especially likes sports in this school," 

After school, Tori was at her locker when Ryder came up to her. She wasn't thrilled to see him. 

Ryder said, "Hey, Tori. Got a Sec," Tori annoyed said, "What do you want, Ryder?" Ryder said, "I just want to Thank You for doing this and I am sorry for leading you on and using you," Tori said, "Have you said that to every girl you used?" Ryder said, "Some to mixed results I should add," Tori said, "You deserve it, by the way," Ryder said, "Any chance of a do-over? I'll even let you snoop through my phone," Tori said, "As tempting as it sounds, I'm going to pass," 

Ryder said, "Guessing I blew it?" Tori said, "You did but it's not the only reason. I met this guy Steven over the weekend and well we've started talking and we're going on a date this weekend,"   Ryder said, "Is there any chance we can date again?" Tori said, "Very unlikely," as she closed her locker.

Then Beck and Jade walked towards them and Tori asked Beck, "Hey can you guys give me a ride?" Jade said, "NO!" Beck said, "We're taking her home, it's my car," Jade said, "Fine but I control the radio," Tori said, "OK, bye Ryder," and Jade added, "Later Douchebag," and Tori, Beck, and Jade walked out of the school.

Andre who saw what happened along with Sinjin and Jay said, "You blew it, man. You blew it," Ryder said, "Speaking of blowing it, how come you haven't asked Tori out?" Jay replied, "I did but she said "No,"," Ryder said, "Not you Jay, Andre. You mean to tell me you never thought about asking her on a date, not even once?" Andre confessed, "I like her but I don't know how much," Ryder said, "Well, think about it more. I might not know you guys that well and you two are super close. Maybe it would work out with Steve but that's a chance the opportunity will present itself. Take a chance man when it's available. Also, Jay thanks for that suggestion. I owe you one," 

Jay said, "Thanks Ryder, I was going to ask put in a good word to Tori for me but since she's unavailable, I got to think of something else," Ryder said, "I'm sure you'll think of something, also do you think Bradford and Suh will go number one overall?" Jay said, "I think Suh though I care more if the Bucs get either McCoy or Berry would their pick," Andre said, "OK Jay let's go," Jay said, "OK see you later Ryder, Sinjin," As the four of them left the school. It wasn't a great day for Ryder Daniels but he did get some indication after improving his grade and clearing a way toward graduation.
