"Take my eyes, take them aside..."
My eyes... They burn... They burn so much... Why...? I can't remember... I... Never remember... My hand tentatively raises to my cheek, pausing as I feel the flow of liquid, my dull eyes briefly glance down at my fingers, noting the clear substance that clung to them. "What is this...?" I murmur dazedly, I look up once more to find a gory sight "what...?" It's a man... A man with soft green hair, a pair of golden-rimmed glasses sit nearby, splattered with blood. "Who...?" I look at his face, the face that was no longer there, skin and muscle torn from the frontal plane of the skull. Blood... So much blood... It pooled around my knees, staining my skin. I raise from my knees but I'm suddenly hit with a memory, stumbling slightly upon the realisation of who was in front of me. "Baizhu... Baizhu..." My vision blurs and eyes burn once more, I don't like what I see... I don't like it... I- I don't- My hands start to claw at my eyes. I don't want to see. I don't want to- I shake my head. "No no no..." I whisper. A hiss catches my attention and I glance to the side where my gaze lands upon the body of a white snake with golden eyes... I know those eyes... Those are Baizhus eyes... Changsheng... "Child... Hush... This is the fifth time you've reacted to his death... I'm sorry... But he's gone..." The snake whispers. I carefully step forward and kneel before the snake, reaching out my arm for it to slither upon my skin. "Cheng-Chan..." I utter as it crawls up my arm, wrapping loosely around my neck "What was Baizhus..." I pause, trying to remember the word "Dream...?" I finish after a moment, gently caressing the snakes body, it hums, raising its head to gaze into my eyes "To heal the sick, my child... Do you wish to continue... His legacy?" Changsheng replies and I nod "Very well then... I can grant you the power to do so... But this deal drains your life each time you use my power...." The snake warns. My mind wonders and, although hazy, a memory resurfaces for the briefest moment. "I won't need to worry about that..." It nods. I pick up Baizhus glasses and place them upon my own face, ready for the journey ahead. "I will... Heal the sick... Just as you did..." I murmur, gently picking up the mans body, not minding the crimson seeping into my clothes.
I trudge through the forest that surrounds the now desolate secluded town. I had packed what was left in the pharmacy with the help of... The white thing... On my shoulders, I had seen in a broken mirror that my eyes now resembles that of the... What's the word...? "What are you again...?" I inquire softly and it lets out a sigh "This is the tenth time you've asked, Y/n..." It replies, I blink, dumbfounded "Wha...?" It sighs once more "I am a snake, child" I nod, my eyes now resemble the snake... I should write that in my book... I'll do that. I pull out my notebook and begin to draw a little version of the animal, drawing an equals sign besides it where I write 'Snake,' I pause "what's your name again...?" It hisses in annoyance before answering me "I am Changsheng." I nod slowly, writing that down next to what I had already written with the name 'Chang-chan' in brackets. "Good..." I continue on and I see a bright light in the distance, quickening my pace I head towards it. Once I break though the tree line I immediately stumble back, closing my eyes at the brightness "Too light!" I complain "Baizhu, it's too bright..." I grumble and for a moment I feel like I forgot something before I feel the snake tighten comfortingly around me "Baizhu's dead remember...?" She whispers and I freeze, remembering the scene once again, my eyes blur again, liquid flowing from my waterline, I wipe the liquid from my cheeks but it keeps flowing. I shakily open my book again to write down the information. "Remember, Y/n..." I murmur "I order myself to remember!" I demand quietly. I look back up at the cluster of tall buildings and bright lights, eyes narrowing in determination. "I will... Heal the sick. I promise." I state.
