Originally, Shi Nan had requested a ten-day wedding leave, but the company, being too busy, only approved three days off for him. Therefore, on the day after receiving the certificate, Shi Nan woke up early and went to the company to clock in for work.

Shi Nan graduated from university and initially entered the company to work on post-production tasks. However, due to the small size of the company and its limited resources in terms of actors, Shi Nan, who happened to have a decent appearance, ended up acting in some small videos for the company. After acting, he would even edit and add music to the videos himself. Eventually, as the company slowly expanded, it became a third-rate film and television production company, with a few low-tier artists under its own management.

Whenever the company needed someone to play the minor role of male characters like 'Male Number Seven' or 'Male Number Eight', Shi Nan would step in to fill the gap.

Whether it's popular or not, being in the spotlight doesn't matter. What matters is that even playing minor roles like 'Male Number Seven' or 'Male Number Eight' pays more than what a typical office worker earns.

Shi Nan is short on money. He put down half of the down payment for the house he bought with a loan, and he still has a seven-figure loan to repay. That's why he's working hard to earn money to pay off the mortgage.

Luckily, his job has been going well these past few years. He manages to pay off the mortgage every month and even save some money, so Shi Nan's financial pressure has eased a bit.

As soon as Shi Nan arrived at the company, he was pulled aside by his colleague from the same department, Ding Chen. Then, in a mysterious manner, Ding Chen said to him, ''Our company might be getting acquired.''

"Acquired?" Shi Nan couldn't believe it. He had only taken a three-day leave, and now the company was going under?

"Looks like I'm pretty important, huh?" Shi Nan chuckled. "The company can't even function without me."

Ding Chen was speechless: "Have a little shame, will you?"

"Sorry, my face is too big, a little shame won't hurt my appearance."

"Are you sure this news is true?" Shi Nan asked Ding Chen.

"Most likely, it's not far from the truth. Everyone in the company has been on edge these past couple of days," Ding Chen said.

Shi Nan's expression also turned serious as he asked, "Has there been any mention of layoffs?" Shi Nan wasn't surprised at all that this small company was being acquired. The fact that the company had managed to survive until now, relying on a few low-tier actors, was already quite inexplicable.

He was only concerned about whether he would be laid off or not, after all, he still had a mortgage to pay off.

"Who knows. Anyway, in just a couple of days, people from the headquarters will come to take over. We'll see how it goes then. If things don't work out, we'll just have to look for another job." He patted Shi Nan on the shoulder reassuringly. "But don't worry, with our skills, we'll find something to eat no matter where we go."

As Ding Chen predicted, the company quickly held a staff meeting to discuss the acquisition. They talked about the details of the acquisition, and as for the fate of the employees, the new company simply stated that those who had real skills would be retained.

"This sounds too grand," Ding Chen whispered to Shi Nan. "but it sounds like they're planning to lay people off."

With the atmosphere in the company filled with uncertainty, many employees began looking for opportunities elsewhere.
