Well look at this! Who thaught the update will be so soon🤭? Anyways enjoy 🎀.
I've always liked Korea and I've never regretted going there to live one day. I loved the colorful narrow streets filled with people, I loved the smell of coffee and food coming from the stalls, I loved the snowy winters and hot summers and even the August rains were to my liking. After all, this country had given me the love of my life.
But now, walking down the street of Sydney and breathing in the hot sultry air with my nose, I felt like the luckiest man on earth. I can love Korea endlessly, but home will always feel different.
My heart gave a warm twitch because I wasn't going home alone this time. Hyunjin was walking beside me, rolling his suitcase behind his back with one hand and holding my hand tightly with the other. Bboki stuck his beak out of the breast pocket of Hyunjin's T-shirt and looked around curiously with his black eyes.
Jini ran ahead of us on a harness and felt like the master of the situation. Maybe it was just me, but he recognized these places and was happy to be back here too. If he hadn't been restrained by the leash, he could have galloped ahead of us all the way to my parents' house on his own, only stopping occasionally to lie down in the grass.
Hyunjin was also very enthusiastic about the trip. As soon as we stepped off the ramp, he spread his arms wide in the manner of Rose from Titanic, but instead of "Jack, I'm flying!" he shouted "Aussie-boy Hyunjin is here!". I laughed and jokingly poked this Aussie Boy in the side, for which I was grabbed in an armful and nearly had my nose bitten off.
"You found a place, people walk here." the airport worker grumbled, pushing a heavy cart ahead of him.
I looked around. It was really crowded and we'd stopped in the middle of the road, oblivious to each other. It happened to us all the time.
"Oh, excuse me, please." I apologized, feeling the tips of my ears blush in embarrassment.
I grabbed Hyunjin's arm and dragged him into the building so we wouldn't disturb anyone. Hyunjin, driven by his natural nastiness, turned around over his shoulder and flashed the employee, who'd made the remark at us, with his tongue in the back.
"Such a kindergarten." I shook my head, to which Hyunjin absolutely disarmingly smiled and kissed me on the nose.
I melted and smiled too."What kind of person are you? I can't even get mad at you," I complained, adjusting the strap of my travel bag.
"I'm just a normal person." Hyunjin chuckled. "It's just that you're head over heels in love with me." and he took a step toward me again, his arms around my neck, his lips scorching mine with heat and I would have succumbed now, because this demon was having some absolutely stupefying effect on me, but the metallic voice of the announcer announcing the start of boarding grabbed my hand before I fell into the maelstrom of Hyunjin's charms. I dodged, and the kiss landed somewhere on my cheek.
Hyunjin was tricky, especially when it came to kisses. He made another attempt, but I ducked under his arm and ended up behind him. Hyunjin sighed disappointedly and turned back to me.
"Don't you dare." I threatened with my finger, almost touching the tip of Hyunjin's nose. "We're at the airport, there's a bunch of people here and we're in their way."
"I see things differently." Hyunjin squinted slyly, taking my threateningly outstretched hand in his own. "We're at the airport." he loosened my fingers, "There's a lot of people here." he placed my relaxed palm against his cheek. "And they're in the way." he kissed the soft area under my thumb.
His shining eyes turned to me and I almost howled at how, even after a year into the relationship, he was still pulling at my heartstrings and making me fall in love with him harder.
"We'll still have time." I smiled and stroked his cheek affectionately with my thumb before intercepting his hand and leading him toward the airport exit.
The humid air hit my nose immediately. I inhaled it deeply, filling my lungs with sweet salt. I wanted to smile and even the sweltering summer heat and the crowds of the tourist season couldn't stop me.
Hyunjin and I climbed into the bus. Jiniret had to be taken in my arms, though he was very indignant because he wanted to walk on his native Australian soil with his paws. The bus was also full of newcomers. There was almost no space in the cabin. Half was occupied by tourists and half by their luggage.
Hyunjin clung to the handrail. He stood firmly, though sometimes he wobbled on particularly sharp turns. I put my arms around his waist and pressed my cheek against his chest, listening to his heartbeat. I couldn't see his face, but I could feel the smug smile on his skin.
"I did it to keep from me from falling." I excused myself, completely insincere."Sure, sure." Hyunjin played along, "I'm always at your service."
I got off the bus with a bright thought of how I would be in the shower when I got home. It was only a short walk away. My parents lived in the private sector and life here was arranged in the best way: well-tended lawns, lush green alleys, trimmed bushes by the sidewalks, sports fields and children's areas. The air smelled of fruity summer, sweet browned waffles and fried meat from the porch of a smiling neighbor who was barbecuing for his kids.I glanced over at Hyunjin and smiled at the way he was actively turning his head, looking at the familiar pleasures of Australian life. It seemed that I hadn't shown him anything amazing yet. Hyunjin had seen sports grounds and playgrounds everywhere in Korea and green areas could be found in Seoul, but everything here was different. I knew it myself, and Hyunjin felt it too.
That is, until I blithely told Hyunjin that my house was just around the next corner. It didn't escape me then how serious he became and how tense his back and shoulders were under his thin white T-shirt.
"What's wrong?" I asked when we stopped in front of the door of my parents' house. The pleasant excitement of meeting my family was replaced by anxiety.
"It's nothing." Hyunjin smiled, but he looked nervous. "I'm just a little anxious." he added, then stroked Bboki with his finger, which sensing his man's anxiousness, began to trill restlessly.
" Because of my parents?" I chuckled. "Are you crazy? They already love you endlessly. You're my soulmate." I put my arm around his shoulder and smiled.
"Well, who knows..." he frowned, lowering his eyes to Jini, who walked over to Hyunjin, stood on his hind legs and grabbed his pant leg with his forelegs, sniffing curiously.
"What do you mean 'who knows'." I bent down, unhooked Jiniret from his harness and took him in my arms. "My parents love Jini. So why wouldn't they love you?" I pulled the ferret closer to my inconsolable soulmate's face, so that Jiniret's pink nose pressed against the tip of Hyunjin's nose.
They looked at each other, blinked at the same time and then Hyunjin covered the ferret's face with his palm, which made the ferret squirm and squawk, then tried to pull Hyunjin's finger. I had long ago noticed that there was some competition between the two of them, and I suspected that I was the culprit. But the competition was harmless and even now Jini was pretending that he was going to pull Hyunjin's hand off. In fact, he scraped his teeth at him and let him go in peace. He had to show of his character.
I sighed, put the ferret in my other hand and stood on my tiptoes to kiss Hyunjin on the cheek.
"It'll be okay." I whispered, pulling away and just at that moment the door opened and my radiant mother appeared on the doorstep.
