Annabelle's POV

"Take a right here."

I had to show Harry where to go because he didn't know how to work the GPS in his car. Who doesn't know how to work GPS? Oh yeah, Harry Styles.

We pulled up in front of my so called home and the feeling of dread washed over me like a wave hitting the shore.

I forgot about the living nightmare called Carlos.

I hadn't contacted him all night. I didn't even tell him where I would be or if I managed to snag a customer. Carlos was quite strict when it came to keeping in touch with him, if you didn't reply to his message or return a phone call within his time limit it would be hell when you got home.

My hands were shaking uncontrollably and beads of sweat were already forming on my forehead.

"Annabelle are you alright? You look like you've seen a ghost?"

Damnit. Harry. Him
being here surely wouldn't make the situation better for me.

"I-I'm fine, I have to go now. I'm sorry, goodbye Harry!"

I rushed out of the car, accidentally slamming the door loudly behind me. The sound must have alerted Carlos because the front door swung open so harshly I could feel the impact in my bones. The frown on his face sent shivers through my entire being and I wanted to turn and run from him, I was already dreading the consequences i'd have to face.

Carlos was a cruel son of a bitch. I'd never experienced his wrath personally but I've witnessed his acts to know that I'd never wanted to be the one to endure his scolding. He had slapped me across the face once or twice and shoved me around but the things I'd seen him do to other girls made his acts towards me seem like nothing.

"Annabelle wait!"

Shit! No, not now!

I didn't dare to look back at Harry, I simply waited at the bottom of the stairs, contemplating taking the three steps that would lead to my personal hell.
My ear drums were ringing so loudly that whatever Carlos was saying to me couldn't even be heard. Just the sight of his thin lips moving was enough for me to know his scolding words would be harsh to hear.

Harry caught Carlo's eye and I knew the next few moments wouldn't be pretty.

"Who the hell is he Anna? Why would you bring someone back to my house!? You stupid, stupid whore!"

"Carlos I -"

"I don't have time for whatever shit excuse you have, get the hell in this house or so help me god I'll -"

"Or you'll what?" Harry challenged and Carlos tensed at his words. "Anna what's going on? Who is this guy?" He added his voice soft as he spoke to me now.

Harry's warm palm was placed on my shoulder causing me to jerk at his touch. It was comforting yes, but not exactly what I needed as visions of Carlos cruel actions played over and over again in my mind.

"Harry please go." I begged, turning and looking at him with pleading eyes. He looked genuinely concerned but if he stayed any longer God knows what Carlos would do to him as well.

"Annabelle I'm not leaving you here."

"Harry please!" I cried, my palms pushing him backwards hoping he'd listen. A flash of hurt portrayed on his face but he didn't budge. I was basically on my knees begging him to leave and he didn't dare move.

"It's best you get going now, me and Anna have to do some talking." Carlos words were partially dripping in sarcasm and I knew that whatever he had in store for me surely wouldn't be pretty. I was petrified in this moment and I know it was surely visible to see. I worked so hard to keep out of Carlos ways but now I fucked it all up because of one night with a man I barely knew and all for what, a thousand bucks and probably two black eyes?
