"It's an honor to announce that our prestigious institution has won the National Debate Competition for the third time in a row. The school congratulates the entire Debate team for their hard work. This wouldn't be possible without the debate team leader and the school vice-captain for the academic year 2023-24 - Anandita Krishnamurthy"The Dean, Diane Roy announces.
"Kash me uski tarah smart hoti" Riddhi murmurs
(I wish I was as smart as her)
"Excuse me, Ms.music prodigy"Shanavi comments
"You're excused, Ms.Athlete sherorkar"

"Excuse me, ma'am, May I come in?"
"Yes, please, Mirra right?"
"Yes ma'am" Mirra replies
"So class, this is Mirra, she'll be joining us from today. Why don't you introduce yourself?"
"Hello everyone...I'm Mirra Joseph...I'm from Bangalore.."
"That's it?"
Mirra nods at the teacher.
"Okay then, I'm Mousomi Chattopadhyay, your chem teacher. Feel free to ask me anything. You can take a seat next to Afra"
Mirra makes her way to the seat.
"Hi"
Afra ignores her and looks to the front of the class.
Mirra shrugs takes a seat and takes her books out.
"So class, today we'll be staying about the cathode-ray and anode-ray experiment....."Mrs.Mousomi starts her class
"So she's the one?"Shanavi asks her
"Who's the one?"Riddhi whispers back making sure the teacher doesn't hear.
"Arre, who roomie"
"Shanavi, are you serious?"
"What? By the time I went back to the room I was so tired that I crashed on the bed, "Shanavi says shruggingly
"Shanavi, Riddhi"
and the whole class turns towards them.
"Sorry," Riddhi says on behalf of her and Shanavi.
Mrs.Mousomi turns back to the board.
Halfway through the class "Excuse me, ma'am, may I come in?"
"Come in Sana"
"Sorry to disturb the class, surprise checking.."Sana i.e Sana Khan, the school captain, of 12th Science stream says
"I'll leave you to it then...Anandita and Mirra, both of you collect last week's notes from Afra and do ask me if you have any doubts"
Both of them nod at her.
The student council i.e. the 12th graders started checking everyone's uniform - The uniform consisted of a shirt that had close black vertical lines which were to be tucked inside a grey skirt with maroon,black checks. A grey sweater which was optional, A maroon tie with a silver line, and a maroon blazer with 2 silver buttons and one pocket on either side. The blazer had a Rose in silver thread and Rosewood written on a black space below it on the right side. They had grey socks with 2 maroon lines. Open hair was not allowed.
All those who didn't wear the tie, didn't polish their shoes, cut nails, and didn't tie their hair properly were sent out. Even those who didn't wear their dorm house badge (A maroon badge with their dorm house name written) were sent out.
Out of 30 students, only 19 remained now.
"I feel bad yaar shanu, no one would expected a check in the second week, "Riddhi says
"Hey...afra"Mirra tries talking to her bench partner.
Afra places the notes in front of her.
"Once done, give it to my dorm warden."She says and leaves
"But where do you live?"
Afra gives her a "Are you an idiot" look and then points towards her badge that says "Hera" and leaves even before Mirra can react.
Anandita comes and taps on her shoulder making Mirra turn towards her.
"The notes..."
"Oh, do you need them urgently?"Mirra asks her
"No...I was wondering if you wanted to go together to Xerox them...since you're new here and well I need them too and we have time until the physics labs start"Anandita says
"Sure," Mirra says and both of them walk towards the student center.
"So school vice-captain..how does that feel?"Mirra initiates the convo as they walk.
"Good until now...How does Rosewood feel?"
"It's alright"
"The beginning might be a bit hard...since practically all of us have been here since 6th grade but you'll do good, "Anandita says
"Thanks for the tips I guess..."
"Two copies please, "Anandita says to the person in the Xerox room.
Anandita then signs the book which has three columns - Class, House, No., Time, and Warden sign.
"Your no.?" Anandita asks her
"3028"
Mirra notices that Anandita is from Athena's Residence and her no. is 2041.
She then sees the badges Anandita owns - Athena(in a black badge), School captain, Debate Leader, Debate team, and Art club.
"Hey..you don't mind If I ask you something right?"Mirra asks her
Anandita asks her to go ahead.
"What's with Afra?"
They collect the notes and copies and walk back towards the school building.
"Well...I'm not sure either, we were in different classes since the beginning. So never met her that much or talked to her except for the time she was in drama club in 8th grade...I did talk to her on the first day before I left for the debate competition and she did kind of... Anyway, we should hurry a bit or Mr.Pathak is going to eat our heads off"
