Evie's POV
We walked up to the club, still sober but very excited. Or at least, I was. Beth was never a big party person and I could tell she felt uncomfortable in the tiny top she was wearing. As for me, I felt great as I strutted into the club in my high-heeled boots and leather jacket. Beth stumbled in behind me, clearly wanting to turn around and leave.
As we entered, my eyes fell on the dance floor. Beth had other plans, however, and dragged me to the bar.
"One strawberry daiquiri and - what do you want?" Beth asked as we reached the counter.
"I'll have a martini, please" I requested. I know it was a bit fancy for a random Saturday night but I just fancied it.
"One double vodka red bull please mate." A stranger's voice said. I turned to see a handsome man sitting right next to me. He noticed me staring and smirked at the drink sat in front of me.
"Who are you, James Bond's girlfriend?" He asked.
"I'm perfectly within my rights to have a martini without looking like a civilised super spy." I said, trying to hide my smile at his teasing. "Plus you're not exactly drinking your everyday cocktail, are you?"
"Nah, I suppose not." He laughed. "You're pretty enough to be a civilised super spy. I wouldn't be surprised if you had a spike in your heel ready to stab me."
"In your dreams." I chuckled. "You're not so bad looking yourself, what's your name?"
"Gamble. Ed Gamble." He said, and I couldn't tell whether he was carrying on the joke or it was pure nervousness. "How about you?"
"Evie." I smiled, a smirk suddenly forming. "You'll have to take me to the slot machines sometime, won't you?"
He laughed. "I suppose I will."
Beth watched, trying not to cringe at us. She began sipping her drink loudly in the hope that I might stop talking to him. I completely blanked her as I had not intention of leaving our conversation.
"Right, I'm gonna go and stand in a corner. Call me if you need me." Beth said as she picked up her cocktail and slinked away from the bar.
"She sounds fun." Ed teased.
"She is once you get to know her." I said, trying to defend her.
"I have a friend like that. He's around here somewhere." Ed added as he took another sip of his drink. I felt my heart skip a beat as he gestured to the dance floor.
"Care for a dance?" Ed asked. I began to feel excited and screamed yes before I'd had chance to think. Ed seemed happy about it too as he immediately downed his drink and grabbed my hand. He led me onto the dance floor and we began to dance to whatever 90s rave tunes were playing.
Beth's POV
I scanned the room, looking for somewhere quiet to stand and I landed on a small corner of the room with seemingly no one in it. I walked over and leaned against the wall, beginning to sip my drink. Unfortunately, my peace was quickly disturbed by the slow yet aggravating slurp of a soft drink. I looked to the side of me and saw a tall figure with a mop of curly hair.
This startled me but I soon became intrigued as to who was with me. As I moved closer, the scent of Dr. Pepper grew more and more. I looked at his drink which was dark in colour and then at him and realised that he had been staring at me.
"Are you drinking Dr. Pepper?" I asked, trying to ease the tension. "That's disgusting."
"No It's not." He disputed. As he stepped towards me into the light, I finally realised that he was actually pretty handsome.
