Six Months Later
Last winter changed my life. Mingyu came back into my life and we let Fate have her way. After the season's ballet ran its course, we rented a little cottage on the coast and solidified our love. We claimed each other and spent the entire weekend in each other's arms. Maybe it was fast, but Fate gets her way more often than not, even when one of us is stubborn. I'm so grateful for my life. I get my sexy, strong alpha and get to live my dreams. I hadn't even realized I had dreams other than to dance until Mingyu returned to me.
"Jungchan, watch your turn out," I say.
After the winter ballet, and after Eric promoted me to principal dancer on Christmas, he had another surprise up his sleeve.
I get to teach some of the workshops, which I've wanted to do for ages. Jungchan showed up at the first workshop of the year and every single one afterward. He doesn't know this, but he gets a surprise tonight. His mom already signed all the papers and I'm excited to see his face light up.
I still don't want kids of my own. But teaching gives me a purpose I hadn't realized I was missing. Passing the torch to the next generation of dancers, now that's a worthy cause.
"Good job everyone!" I clap and have the kids gather in a circle. "Everyone is improving so much, and today I want to honor one special person. He's put his heart and soul into ballet and we're extending a scholarship. Jungchan, welcome to Eric's Studio."
The entire class claps and congratulates him.
I anticipated the high pitch squeal and brace myself for the hug he launches at me.
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"
"It was all you. I'm so proud of your progress." I ruffle his hair. His mom smiles over at us and mouths "thank you". I simply tip my head. Eric took a chance on me when I was a chaotic child in need of an outlet. I'm glad to extend that to Jungchan with Eric's blessing.
"Alrighty, kiddos, have a good evening. You don't gotta go home, but you can't stay here."
Parents snort before trying to herd their children out the door. Mingyu stands in the corner, waiting for everyone to exit before coming to me. Music still plays in the background and we dance together, just swaying to the beat.
We haven't experienced another heat yet. And I still can't sense Mingyu as my Fated, other than the sparks when we touch. Isn't that enough, though? My heart tells me it is, and we never needed the visual proof to begin with.
Tonight, we head out for a short beach vacation. I'm so grateful that Mingyu helped me see the world wasn't scary, not at all. Without him, I'd still be keeping to myself and scared of venturing to the grocery store. But he's blown my world wide open and I can't see life any other way.
