Briere stood there shockingly, attempting to process what her boyfriend Marcel of two years just said to her. It was currently the week of her graduating from college, and Briere couldn't believe that Marcel was breaking up with her."S-So this is it?" What did I do?" Briere questioned as the sound of her voice cracked.
Briere could now feel her heart pounding fast, anxious knowing what Marcel was about to say.
"Brie, you didn't do anything to me." I just feel like we're growing apart, I'm no longer in love with you. I've been feeling a shift in our relationship for a while now, and at first, I've tried to brush it off, but now I see that our relationship needs to come to an end. I'll always have love for you, but I can't be with you anymore."
And there it was. Briere stood corrected, Marcel was breaking up with her. Briere was loss for words, she never would've guessed that Marcel would end their relationship, let alone the week of her graduating from college.
Briere looked down, to prevent from crying. But her attempt from her tears falling down her face, had failed. Soon her lips started to quiver, as Briere's tears continued to escape from her eyes.
She didn't understand why Marcel wanted to break up with her. Briere believed that she and Marcel were in a good place in their relationship. Sure, there were times when they had their disagreements, but they were able to find solutions.
"Briere," Marcel called, as he lifted Briere's chin with his index finger.
Briere couldn't even hold back her tears any longer, as her lips began to quiver. Briere felt her body being pulled into a hug, as Marcel wrapped his arms around Briere's waist.
Briere felt weak, as she was wrapped in Marcel's embrace. She couldn't believe that this would be the last time that she'd be in his embrace. Briere has always loved it when Marcel would hold her in his arms. It made her feel protected from any danger that could come her way.
"Briere, I hate to see you cry." We may not be together anymore, but I just want you to know I'll always be here for you."
Everything that came out of Marcel's mouth, was a blur to Briere. Briere hoped that despite the ending of their relationship, Marcel meant what he said about always being there for her.
And that was wishful thinking.
The sound of her bedroom door being knocked snapped Briere out of her engulfing thoughts. It's been almost 4 months since Briere and Marcel had broken up. All of the words that Marcel had said about being there for her despite the breakup were all bull-faced lie.
On the day of Briere's graduation day, Marcel had told Briere that he was coming to both her graduation and graduation lunch only for him not to show up for both. Briere was hurt at the fact that Marcel didn't show up at something that was supposed to be one of her biggest accomplishments in life.
Briere had graduated from Augusta State University with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. Briere has always dreamed about being a registered nurse, and that was something Marcel knew about. The fact that Marcel wasn't there to support her getting closer to her dream was crushing for Briere.
A week after Briere graduated, Briere was experiencing extremely bad cramps. Briere didn't think too much of it being that she's always had heavy cycles since she first got her cycle by the age of thirteen. Until that same day, the cramps had gotten unbearable, followed by the massive bleeding she was experiencing her friend Arielle had taken her to the hospital immediately.
As soon as they arrived at the hospital, Briere had received the most horrific news that she wouldn't wish nobody to experience. Briere had found out that she had suffered from a miscarriage. Briere didn't know that she was pregnant until doctors let her know that she was only 12 weeks pregnant before losing her baby.
