Bary, the younger brother of the strong man, and the filthy man rushed into the room where Iriana was.
They were still wearing their hoods.Bary ordered the dog to calm down, and the animal obeyed, then he went to help the girl by inspecting the bite on her.
"Damn!" he exclaimed.
While the other stood by doing nothing.
"I specifically asked you to tie up the dog properly. Are you good for nothing?"
"Um... I thought I did," he tried to articulate, fear evident on his face.
"We need to treat her immediately, if Marco finds out, we're toast."
Marco was his older brother's name. And the filthy man's name was Fredy.
Bary instructed Fredy to go to the nearest pharmacy to get antiseptics and antibiotics he would need to treat Iriana. Fredy hurried to the pharmacy, knowing it was important for his boss that the girl didn't have any injuries.
Bary untied the ropes binding Iriana and laid her down. Meanwhile, the girl kept crying and screaming because of the bite.
"Try to calm down! I'll try to help you," he said to the girl.
Iriana wore white tights that covered her thighs down to her feet under her dress.
"Listen, I'm sorry but I have to tear a part of your tights to clean the bite better," he said, tearing part of Iriana's tights with force.
"This bite... hurts so much... What have I done to deserve so much misfortune?" the girl complained.
For a moment, Bary was speechless, touched by their victim's complaints. He looked at her with compassion. Then he shook himself and went to lock up the dog, returning with a basin of water and mild soap. He was surprised to see upon returning to the room that Iriana had moved from where he had placed her.
"I can't believe it, are you trying to escape or something? In this condition?"
"Please, help me, take me home! I beg you!" pleaded Iriana, tears streaming down her face.
"I swear you'll go home, but we need to follow the protocols first. We need to treat this bite, and when your father gives us the money, you'll go home."
These words discouraged Iriana; knowing her father, he wouldn't pay up. The colonel would search high and low to find her and kill her captors one by one. But she remained silent, as these thugs deserved the cruel fate the colonel would mete out to them.
Bary brought Iriana back and sat her against the wall.
"Try to think of something else to lessen the pain," he said, starting to clean Iriana's bite.
But the girl grabbed Bary's hand to stop him.
"What are you doing?" he asked, looking worried.
"I don't want you to touch me anymore, you're criminals, who knows what else is in that basin," she said.
"Why would I do that?"
"You drugged me a few hours ago, remember?"
"No, believe me, I just want to help you."
In truth, Iriana sensed a certain powerlessness or weakness in Bary, which is why she dared to speak to him in this manner. Strangely, Bary didn't instill as much fear in her as Marco and Fredy did.
"I don't believe you, how can I trust the word of someone like you?" retorted Iriana.
Not knowing what else to do, Bary removed his hood. In a matter of seconds, Iriana forgot about the pain from her bite. Her captor was standing before her with his face exposed, looking her straight in the eyes. Her heart was pounding; surprise, fear, and a hint of satisfaction consumed her. She had expected a cruel face or a bad boy covered in tattoos and piercings. But it was nothing like that; Bary's face reflected innocence, his gaze was deep, sadness residing within. And his tan complexion was flawless.
