It doesn't take long for me to return to the familiar warmth of the guild. As I push the heavy door open, the chatter within the hall falls silent, and all eyes turn toward me. "Hey, everyone! I'm back!" I announce cheerfully, my voice ringing out with excitement. However, as I scan the room, a strange sense of emptiness envelops me. Where is everyone?
Kinana, standing by the bar, beams at me with a friendly smile. "Hey! Good to see you!" Her warmth makes my heart swell a little, but I can't shake the feeling that something is off.
"You just missed Natsu and the others," Macao chimes in from his seat next to Wakaba. His tone is casual, but my eyes widen in disbelief.
"They just left a few hours ago for the S-Class Trials!" he adds, as if that would soften the blow. My jaw drops in astonishment. They're gone!?
"Don't worry; they should be back in a few days," Warren reassures me, his expression friendly. "Once they return from Tenroe Island, there's usually a big celebration to honor the new S-Class wizard."
"Really?" I ask, my curiosity piqued, but my mind is racing with thoughts of Natsu and the trials. I can't help but wonder if he'll finally achieve his dream.
"I wonder who it's going to be," Laki muses aloud, furrowing her brows in concentration. "There are so many capable mages in the running." I run a hand through my hair, lost in thought, and make my way to the bar, my expression turning serious. If anything, I just hope Natsu can come out on top.
"Can I get you anything?" a voice calls from behind me. I turn to see Kinana standing there, her nervous yet sweet smile brightening the space around her. My heart softens at the sight of her. Despite joining the guild not too long ago, she's already made a significant impact with her kindness. However, her journey hasn't been easy; she lost her memory and was invited to join Fairy Tail soon after.
"Oh! Yes, please!" I respond, eager for a refreshing drink.
"What do you want?" she asks, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.
"A strawberry banana smoothie, please!"
"Alright! I'll do my best." Kinana nods with determination, and I can see a flicker of apprehension in her gaze. "I know it won't be as good as Mirajane's, but please bear with me for a few days." She heads behind the bar, her hands moving swiftly as she gathers the ingredients. I watch her, shooting her a sympathetic look. Why is she comparing herself to Mirajane?
As she prepares the smoothie, I lower my head in dismay, recognizing that I often do the same thing with my own teammates. It's easy to fall into the trap of self-doubt when surrounded by such talent.
Kinana soon places the drink in front of me, her smile returning as she meets my gaze. "Thank you so much!" I say cheerfully, my excitement palpable. I take a sip, and my eyes widen in astonishment. It tastes incredible! Why did she underestimate herself like that? This is honestly the best smoothie I've ever tasted!
"How is it?" she asks, her curiosity evident.
"Amazing!" I declare, unable to contain my enthusiasm. "This is the best smoothie I've ever had! It's so delicious!" Kinana's eyebrows raise in surprise, and she tilts her head to the side, a look of relief washing over her face.
"That's a relief," she hums, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. Just as I'm about to express my appreciation further, another member of the guild calls for her attention.
"I have to go," she says hurriedly, flashing me a warm smile before rushing off. Watching her go, I can't help but feel a swell of fondness. She truly is a sweet girl, and I admire her spirit.
I finish my drink, savoring the last bit of sweetness, before placing some money on the table and rising to my feet. "Alright, let's head back to my apartment," I murmur to myself, the bustling atmosphere of the guild still buzzing in my ears as I exit.
As I walk through the city, the stars in the night sky seem to sparkle brightly, casting a soft glow over everything. A warm smile forms on my lips, the cool breeze gently tousling my hair. I run a hand through my locks, feeling the anticipation bubbling within me. It's only a matter of time before my mission begins. Having agreed to search for those keys, I know there's no turning back now. Yet, despite the challenges ahead, a thrilling sense of curiosity fills me. I can't wait to learn more about the celestial spirit world and the secrets it holds!
