A 4 year old Cosmo sat down on the rug, drawing a picture.
Young Cosmo: Hey, Grandma!
Candy: What is it, sweetie?
Young Cosmo: Look what I drew for Mom and Dad!
Candy: Well, let's see it.
A picture of Cosmo's mom and dad and an egg with light green hair sticking out of it.
Candy: It's beautiful, dear.
Young Cosmo: I can't wait to give it to Mom and Dad when they get home!
Candy: *chuckles* I'm sure they'll love it.
Cosmo walks over to the white and green egg.
Young Cosmo: I can't wait for baby sister to hatch soon!
Candy: Well, we'll just have to wait til then.
Then, Cosmo's smile turned into a frown.
Young Cosmo: Will I be a good sister?
Candy: What do you mean, sweetie?
Young Cosmo: What if she doesn't like me?
Candy: Of course she will. Why would you day that?
Her grandma kneels down in front of the little Cosmo. Cosmo's eyes tear up a bit.
Young Cosmo: What if she's scared of me at first? What if my hugs hurt her? What if she gets hurt?
Her grandma gently hugs her.
Candy: I'm sure she'll adore you. You're her only sister. And I'm sure she'll love you, no matter what.
Cosmo hugs her grandma tight and buries her face into her shoulder.
Candy: Feeling better now?
Cosmo lets go of her grandma and wipes her face with her arm.
Young Cosmo: *sniffles* Yeah...
Then, they heard a knock on the door.
Candy: Oh! That must be your parents. Go get your things, sweetie. I'll get the door.
Young Cosmo: Okay...
Cosmo holded her lil sister's egg and walks upstairs. Her grandma walks over to the door.
Candy: Welcome ba....home? Oh, hello.
Troll Officer: Hello, ma'am.
Candy: Hello, officer. Did I do something wrong?
Troll Officer: It's not that. Are you Cosmo's grandma?
Candy: Yep.
The troll officer took his hat off.
Troll Officer: I came to deliver bad news. It's about your son and your daughter-in-law.
Candy: Are they okay?
Troll Officer: They got into an accident.
Candy: What kind of accident?
Troll Officer: They got into a bug car crash. Another vehicle ran them over.
Candy: Oh, my gosh! Are they okay?!
Trolls Officer: That's the bad news. They're gone.
Candy: *gasp*
Cosmo's grandma covers her mouth with tears in her eyes.
Candy: (voice trembling) N-no, this can't be...
Troll Officer: I'm so sorry for your loss, ma'am.
Cosmo's grandma wipes her eyes and faces the officer.
Candy: It's okay. I have a granddaughter and another one on the way. What am I gonna tell them?
Trolls Officer: How old is your granddaughter, ma'am.
Candy: She's only four, sir.
Trolls Officer: Are you her legal guardian?
Candy: Yes. Should I get the papers, or...
Trolls Officer: No, no. You're good. I understand. Just break the news to your granddaughter.
Candy: I'll try.
Trolls Officer: Have good rest of your evening, ma'am.
The Trolls officer walked off and Cosmo's grandma closed the door to her pod.
Candy: *sigh*
Young Cosmo: Grandma?
Candy: Oh! How much did you hear?
Cosmo hangs her head.
Young Cosmo: Everything....
Cosmo sat down on the bottom step and covers her face with her hands.
Young Cosmo: *sniffles*
Cosmo's grandma sat down next to her and gently hugs her.
Candy: It's okay, sweetie....I'll take care of you and your sister from now on.
Cosmo grips her grandma's sweater while tears streamed down her face. Her grandma rubs her small back.
Young Cosmo: (voice breaking) I miss them...
Candy: I miss them, too...
