If only I had known sooner.
I was sold as a baby to a rich family who carried a dark secret-The Savilles.
From the tender age of seven, my strength and abilities were tested in ways no child should endure. I was stabbed. Shot. Tazed. Beaten until I could barely breathe. Then, they threw me into a school like nothing had happened.
It was impossible to control the rage bubbling beneath my skin. I lashed out-bullied others relentlessly. But there was one person I targeted most. I don't remember her face anymore; the details are blurred with time. All that remains is a bracelet-pink beads and glittering charms-that I've kept all these years.
Judging by that, I know she was a girl. The kind that lit up every room. Everyone's sunshine.
And I hated that.
Not because she did anything wrong-but because I couldn't stand how perfect her life seemed. I projected all my anger, pain, and confusion onto her. And I've regretted it ever since.
I left school at twelve.
They sent me to Spain for full training, alongside my younger cousin. That lasted until I turned seventeen.
There, I met Toshon. Then Adonis, who eventually introduced me to Tazio-and his younger brother, Zayden. I wouldn't find out about their little sister until a year later.
Liam... he looked up to me like an older brother, even though we were cousins by blood. He met Zayden, and the two of them became practically inseparable.
I buried my past, shoved it into the darkest part of my mind. Tried to change. I developed an obsession with firearms-precision, distance, power-and Tazio saw it. He made me his sniper.
That was step one of building a new life.
Now it's time for step two.
I need to find her.
And I know exactly where to start.
______I didn't know where Zay or Liam went, but Death was mad-and trust me, you don't want to be Zayden right now. The D'Ameilo brothers are insane. One moment it's guns to each other's throats, the next it's knives drawn, stabbing each other like it's normal-then hugging it out five minutes later like nothing happened.
My little cousin decided to tag along with him. I can't control Liam, but he's still a minor, and I'm his guardian while he's in New York. He wants to be like me, and my family hates that. Liam's got tattoos just like mine, the same haircut, dresses nearly identical. Most people would say he's lost himself, but no-Liam knows exactly who he is. He just sees me as the blueprint.
Tazio stormed out of the room, and I followed close behind. We couldn't let them get too far. Those two are a menace-a devilish dynamic duo who treat rules like suggestions and have no problem hurting or harassing anyone they feel like. Sometimes, it feels like they made a deal with Lucifer himself.
We walked down the hallway. They were probably already out of the building-it didn't take a genius to know enemies still lurked in the area. Tazio kept a steady pace while I trailed slightly behind him.
