The only thing I hate more than a liar is a thief.
My family didn't get this far by forgiving minor indiscretions. We can't stand for that. You have to chop the head off the snake. Not only does that solve the problem, it spreads fear so it'll never happen again.
Luca had been a lifelong friend of my dad. They grew up together. He's Matteo's godfather. The man that taught him how to ride a bike and shoot a gun. Matteo's currently engaged to Luca's daughter. Maybe that's the reason he thought asking for forgiveness would work, but it never does.
"Matteo, please." Luca trembled begging my brother not to kill him.
"Please what? Forgive you for being a thief and look the other way because we're "family"?
"My family needed the money. This is my first fuck up in thirty years."
"I don't understand why? If you asked my father would've given you the fucking money. I would've given you the fucking money." Rage pulsed through Matteo's veins. He values loyalty over everything. Luca's deceit ruined any compassion in his heart.
Luca's eyes connected with mine. "There's nothing I can do for you." We don't share the same bond that he and Matteo do.
I'm here to do what Matteo can't. He couldn't kill Luca. I can and I will. I have to protect my brother's integrity. "Matteo, I know you have business to handle. I'll take care of him."
Matteo holstered his gun and left the room.
"Nico, just call your father. You don't have to do this." Luca pleaded with me, but it wasn't going to work.
"My father is expecting your head in two hours. He has a meeting and you'll be the topic of discussion." Without pause, I shot him. I watched as the pressure from the bullet made his head buckle. The slow trickle of blood was evidence of his treachery. I'd call it a mercy kill, no torture just straight to the point.
"Santino." I called over one of the guards. "There's a chainsaw in the basement, take his body with you. I need his limbs removed. His head needs to be placed in a box." This task allows Santino to move up in rank. The real matter is that I don't plan on getting my suit dirty for anyone. Blood never comes out. I adjusted my tie then went to find Matteo.
"He's dead. Anything else you need?"
My brother looked out his office window. "I need you in Italy next month. For now we're squared away."
"I'll be in New York for a few days. Then I have business to take care of." I responded and like always my brother read my mind.
"Nico, be careful. The average person doesn't have the resources to touch us, but if a problem arises. You won't be against the average person."
"Understood." I exited his office.
The flight home seemed longer than it usually is. My top priority is making sure Lisa and her shit are out of my house. I checked my security cameras a few times in Seattle and it looked like she heeded my warning.
Rage was the first emotion that came to my mind when I parked my car in my garage. Three of my cars had spray paint on them and the others had been keyed. The damage would be cheap to fix, but the disrespect is what I couldn't stand. And I can't let that shit slide.
The phone rang once before Kali answered.
"You want the money for your boots?"
"Yes, but what do you need? You never call me."
"I'll transfer four thousand dollars to your account. If you can find Lisa through social media and get Victoria to handle her."
"That's all I have to do?" Kali was more excited than she should be.
