Devon had planned to eat at a restaurant called The Pink Door. He had eaten there multiple times before with his grandmother, so it would be his first time going with a friend. This being said, he was a little nervous. The restaurant opened at eleven o'clock on Saturdays, so he figured it would be an excellent way to start their day. The only problem was the restaurant opened at eleven, and they decided to meet at nine. For that reason, he decided to make a reservation, and what they did for the next three hours would be decided as they walked along the city streets.
He opened the door to the outside and was immediately hit by the cold breeze, something that made Devon's spine crawl."How did you survive out here with shorts on?"
Sae shrugged
"It's not that cold, and besides, it'll get hotter in a bit."
Before Devon forgot, he texted his grandmother he was leaving before walking side to side with the other. He checked the watch on his sleeve and saw it was already nine twenty-five, and it would most likely take an hour to walk to the restaurant. Devon didn't know all the directions but figured he didn't have to know, and it would be better if they got lost so it would take up more time.
"So where are we going anyway?"
"Ok, well, first we're going to eat breakfast, then go to the mall, and after that, we'll have lunch or something in the space needle, but my last thing is a secret."
Devon had thought a lot about what he wanted to do today. He didn't want Sae to be bored, so he tried to fill the day as best he could with activities that wouldn't require the most straining things. Sae's reaction was something he would pay to see as many times as he'd watched Fast and Furious 2.
His eyes grew in shock, but as quickly as it came, it was gone and switched with something akin to suspicion.
"I hope you know that I didn't bring the amount of money you probably think I did."
"Oh, that's no problem. I asked you to come, so I'll pay."
He was rich, after all.
"So there's no catch?"
Sae's suspicion compelled Devon to chuckle. Did he really think Devon wasn't being serious? I mean, he liked to tease, but then again, it was just teasing and nothing serious. Anyway, Devon would make it clear to the other that he wasn't joking since he seemed worried.
"I'm not joking. You just gotta trust."
"I feel like I shouldn't be doing that, but whatever."
"I promise I won't. Besides, it wouldn't be a good look for me if I left you to pay for everything anyway."
Devon said while nudging the others arm.
It took an hour to get to the restaurant because they stopped to look and take in the city. Devon ended up going down a couple of wrong streets, but that made it all the more interesting because they had a perfect view of the mountains across the water. They stopped to admire it for a couple of minutes before finding their way to the restaurant.
Devon rolled back his sweatshirt's sleeve and checked the time; it was conveniently ten forty, and he figured the restaurant staff would let them in early. Maybe they would even seat them. That was doubtful, though. The pair entered the restaurant and sat in their seats, waiting for an assistant to return to the table. It looked like she was in the kitchen, so Devon suspected she'd be back any minute. While waiting for her, Devon made small talk with the latter.
"So, have you ever eaten here?"
"No. I've never even heard of it. Is this place good?"
"Yeah, I mean, in my opinion, that is."
