by a meal sooheon thought it would be something like gukbap? tteokbokki? jajangmyeon? anything at a restaurant or cafe but looking at the four walls he was surrounded with it was far from what he imagined.
strangely enough he found himself holding two cans of cat food, his eyes screaming concern for the girl who was still buying cat snacks, she's not buying them for herself right? perhaps she might be mentally not well, he thought.
but before he could assumed any further the girl spoke again breaking all the theories sooheon had,
“ I prefer humans food, these aren't for me ” the girl answered lifting the can, as if she magically heard what was going inside his head catchting him off guard in the process.
“ obviously they aren't ” sooheon blurted out before clearing his throat. embarrassed he took a glance at the girl who was laughing sneakily definitely not buying his words.
the way back to the hospital was awkward all they both did was glance at each other time to time, sooheon noticed her still holding onto the mp3 player but didn't bother himself to start up a new conversation.
“ wow this is really awkward ” the girl spoke breaking the thin wall between them. sooheon being the introvert he was didn't reply instead he just nodded his head.
“ why did you came? ”
“ huh? ”
“ to the hospital ”
“ oh! I blacked out ” sooheon replied scratching the back of his head, even he didn't knew why he felt embarrassed about it.
“ you didn't look like a clumsy head though ” she laughed making his head to jolt towards her, she's so straight forward that's what he thought.
“ we're here ” she exclaimed as she strom towards the entrance of the main gate of the hospital but to sooheon's surprise instead of leading him inside the building she went ahead towards the small garden present there. he furrowed his eyes but followed along anyway.
“ go there ” she pointed towards the tree asking sooheon to follow her demands, he decided to retaliate but ended up agreeing.
he glanced behind to see the girl still standing at where she was before, confused sooheon took his every step carefully, is she leading him to his death? or is she a part of a cult? nonetheless she is weird as hell. The boy couldn't help but flood his mind with worrisome questions.
and there he heard, a small squishy meow. He moved his head towards the direction of the voice, his step getting closer and closer until he got the full view of the voice's owner. sooheon squat down as he extended his right hand to reach the kitten who was hidden behind the bushes, much to his joy the kitten wasn't hostile towards him at all rather she greeted him by licking his hand and sooheon eyes soften as soon as it did.
“ poor kitten she was crying all night ” sooheon turned towards the girl, now that he heard her it all started to make sense.
“ her owner passed away yesterday morning, and seems like the guardian was so devastated by it that they forgot about this baby ” the girl began, squatting down as her eyes screaming concerned for the cat.
“ she wasn't allowed inside the hospital so the nurses left her here starving ”
“ you could've feed her too why'd you ask me? ” sooheon question, his eyes still at the kitten while his hand softly brushing it's fur though he soon realized what he have said, he hoped she didn't took it as rude.
“ I'm allergic to cats, I would have died sneezing ” sooheon looked at the girl, her tone radiating sarcasm.
“ what's her name though any idea? ” he tried to change the topic as he began to feed the kitten.
“ jiji ”
“ jiji? from kiki delivery service? ”
“ yeah ”
Sooheon take a good minutes to appreciate the kitten appearance, she has soft black fur and big round eyes no doubt her owner named her after the character?
“ what about you? ” he glanced towards her as he stands up after feeding the cat, “ your name? ”
“ you don't know? ” she asked kinda disappointed.
“ I don't think I asked or you told me before ”
“ huiyeon ”
