A/N: That is Derek's father above, he's going to a be a significant character in this chapter and later on in this story.

I've been dying  to write this chapter for a long time. I really hope you like it.

I have told you guys that I've changed Derek's and Melly's grade so instead of going into their junior year, they're going to be seniors. This is all so the storyline could work out better and won't be dragged on more than it should. So you won't be confused as you read further into this chapter.

*Flashback*

John and I woke up in our usual childhood room to the sound of rain pounding hard on our glass window. I always felt gloomy whenever it was a rainy day, even if it was drizzling because I was naïve enough to think that whenever it rains that the world was crying and being the nice kid that I was back then, I can't help but feel bad. I didn't know at the time it had a reason to.

Anyway, John and I were promised by our father to play with him today. I was always an energetic kid (still am) with lots of imagination. My life back then was always an adventure. I didn't think anything bad would happen.

"Let's wake up, dad." I said. John nodded his head and we quickly scurried our little legs to our parents sound. Something was off though. We heard crying on the other side of the door. We weren't stupid enough to know it wasn't mom, no matter how much we didn't wanted to believe it. John and I exchange an unsure look on our faces before I raise my little knuckles to knock on the door. I hesitated at first, but I did anyway.

A small, sad female voice on the other side, "Come in."

My young brother and I were totally not prepared to see what was on the other side, but there it was. Our mom sitting on the bed, looking over at a small paper in her hand, sobbing her eyes out. I looked on the other side and I've noticed that there was another person missing on the other side of the bed. Dad.

I walked up to my mom and gave her a hug of comfort while John sat on the other side of her. "Mommy, why are you crying?" My little kid's voice said.

"Where's daddy?" John asked, looking around the room, hoping that the man that promised us a good day would come in at any minute.

"Boys. Oh boys, I don't know what to tell you this." Mom sniffed.

"What mommy?" John said, his brown eyes full of concern towards our weeping mother. I really don't like where this is going.

"Your father left us for another woman from work." Mom said, crying even more as the words came out.

John and I gasped, "No."

My mom nodded her head slowly at us with gloomy, brown eyes that is so similar to ours. I can feel salty water form into my eyes as I try to grasp on the fact that daddy really did leave and that he may never come back. My mom hold me closer to her as we cried together until we couldn't cry anymore.
