"do you have to be in the way all of the time?" scarlett rolled her eyes at the familiar voice in the lunch queue behind her. "charming as always," she commented before picked her tray up and turning to walk away before regina george could fully dig her claws in. louisa leant against the pole behind her, rolling her eyes at the blonde still in the lunch queue. it was pretty rare that louisa montgomery disliked anyone but both scarlett and maria's hatred for regina had passed over to the girl. "she's unbelievable," louisa rolled her eyes. "she's regina," scarlett shrugged. "if being in her way is her only criticism i will take it."

the girl slid her tray onto the table, nudging maria into moving to make room for her. "what are you doing?" she peered over maria's phone screen. "please tell me why you're cyber stalking heather." maria raised a brow at the girl and turned her phone screen ever so slightly. "as if you've never done it before," she retorted before snatching maria's phone from her. "hey!" the girl rolled her eyes. "ever heard of boundaries?" scarlett swatted her away and glanced through the comments that maria had loaded up on her phone, maria had a tendency to try and disprove scarlett's idea of her and heather dating so maybe the girl going through her instagram comments shouldn't have been a massive surprise to scarlett.

"wait-" scarlett tapped her nail off the top comment, heather's beaming "you're a cutie" reply staring back at her. "oh there's no way." maria opened her mouth to respond but was almost instantly cut off by the clicking of gretchen wieners' heels rushing past them towards where regina was still held up in the lunch line, her tray balanced in one hand as she ran the other through her hair exasperatedly. scarlett turned her head ever so slightly as she watched gretchen flash her phone screen at the blonde.

regina had been pissed off by scarlett since the moment she saw her so scarlett had been on the receiving end of her cutting looks for years. but the rage that washed over regina's face as she took in what was on the screen before her was something scarlett did not want to be on the receiving end of.

the blonde slammed her lunch tray down onto the cafeteria counter, gathering attention from the students around her. not that she cared or even noticed, everyone's attention was always on regina george. she regained her composure pretty quickly, once again picking up her lunch tray and walking calmly towards her lunch table. gretchen followed, her eyes widened in fear as she stayed a couple of steps behind regina. "what are you looking at freakshow?" regina tilted her head at scarlett who rolled her eyes. "it's not my fault your boyfriend doesn't want you anymore." her reply seemed to anger regina more but instead of responding, the girl stormed away from her.

"can i have my phone back now?" maria nudged scarlett before yanking her phone back forcefully. scarlett was too busy looking around for heather campbell to notice. her eyes landed on the girl almost instantly, her eyes flickering between regina and her own table as if she was awaiting the eruption from the other girl. it was just one comment on a social media post, scarlett would've said they were just friends if she hadn't picked up on the shifty look on heather's face.

her stomach lurched a little but she had no one to blame but herself. she'd convinced herself that she had a shot with heather campbell and now she was flirting with someone through social media. and not just someone but aaron samuels.

"hello?" louisa clicked her fingers in front of scarlett, her infamous sympathetic look spread across her face. "are you alright?" scarlett nodded and turned back to their table, trying to ignore the way regina was glaring heather down barely two tables down from them. "yeah," she shrugged. "why wouldn't i be?" maria frowned slightly, exchanging glances with louisa that told scarlett neither one of them believed her. "because you've been in love with her for years?" maria pressed. "because she's dating your enemies ex-boyfriend?" scarlett did not have any issue with aaron samuels, a lot of people fell for regina george's manipulation and she couldn't keep track of all of them. aaron was just another name on a long list.

"she owes me nothing," scarlett said, which wasn't a lie. her and heather weren't even close to friends, they spoke a couple of times and greeted each other in class but that was it. how had she ever expected to form a relationship with heather when she could barely form the words to say hi to her? she had missed her opportunity and in her lack of effort, aaron samuels had swooped in. "and it's one comment, it doesn't mean they're together." maria had become suddenly very interested in her lunch tray, avoiding scarlett's eyes. "they probably won't last," louisa shrugged, filling the silence. "not if regina has any say in it."

scarlett looked towards the plastics table where regina seemed to be taking her anger out on gretchen and she knew it was an awful thing to think, but she couldn't help but hope that regina did intervene. after all, if she scared heather enough maybe scarlett would get that second chance she so desperately needed.
