Firsts ;)

WE ALL HAVE FIRSTS FOR EVERYTHING.

Some we already did without our noticing it.

Some were so awesome we either put it on paper or write a mental note about it.

Some were ones we'd rather do all over again to make a better memory of it.

And some make us go "Oh, Fudge, why. What on earth was I thinking?"

I'm going to share what I think is my first memory worthy encounter with a boy.

It was in Kindergarten, I guess, and kids don't usually know why they like someone.

I'm thinking the number of crayons he's willing to share,

or the number of times he's willing to push you in the swing before it's your turn to do so,

or the extra candy he saves for you than the number he gives to the rest of his friends.

In my case it was a tall plastic cup with a bendy straw.

Yep, my happiness was so shallow then.

Actually, all kids' happiness are.

And it's that that makes them so easy to love and play with.

Because even after a fight, they make-up and become playmates again.

Just like that - in a jiffy.

No pride, no hurt feelings, no strings attached.

The true application of forgive and forget.

So, anyway, back to the cup with the bendy straw.

My classmate Sam didn't know that I liked him because of this,

but on the other side of the room I was practically telling everybody that Sam was my husband.

And when my girl friends were all giggling and asking me to call him, I had all the confidence in the world.

I face him and shout across the room,

"Sam, honey!" and smile. "You gave me this cup, right?" I add, probably bragging.

And hejust looked at me point blank.

I was too preoccupied with the cup that I didn't give much attention to process his reaction nor wait for his reply that I turn back to resume my conversation with my girl friends.

Oh, yeah. That was a first that now makes me go: "Oh, fudge why."

And I'm just thankful that we're all old enough to probably forget that ever happened.

Another good thing was that my teacher wasn't there.

It would soooo embarrassing if anybody besides me remembered that -_-

Because if anyone did, I would call on OhFudgeWhy's cousin, "Kill me. Kill me now."

Anywhooo, my crush on Sam was short-lived.

And this was before I knew that my mum actually bought the cup from Sam's dad because it was their family business.

But past the it-was-an-embarassing-moment feeling,

it's still a memory that makes me smile.
