The rain was falling heavily. Pentious sat on his chair, waiting for Cherri to come. He wished she wouldn't just stand him up. But then again he wouldn't be surprised if she did. Cherri was too cool for him after all. Pentious was always the weird kid after all. Pentious sighed, giving up all hope. It wouldn't be the first time someone stood him up. He stood up from his sit. It had been half an hour, she wasn't going to come.
Pentious got up and walked out of the cafe. He still stood near the sign in order to not get wet. He tried calling his parents but they seemed to be too busy to pick up his call. Pentious felt tears well up in his eyes. He always felt different even in his friends group. He never felt like he fit in anywhere. And his parents were always too busy for him. He felt all alone in the world.
Maybe he didn't deserve anyone. Maybe he was meant to be alone. He felt forgotten by everyone in the world. He was alone with no one to care about him. "Fuck!" he murmured. Why was he so weak? If Angel can go through literal Hell without shedding a tear, why can't he just suck it up and not cry. But he sobbed and sobbed, more than anyone.
Cherri ran through the rain. "Fuck, fuck, fuck!" she wanted to appear cool but she was so fucking late to the date. She had waited for the rain to end but when it didn't, she decided to go nonetheless. But the car wasn't working and there wasn't any cab available at the time due to the heavy rainstorm. So now Cherri Bomb, the coolest girl in school was running through the streets of NYC like a madman. Things love can make a person do.
Cherri looked at her watch. Great, just great! It had been half an hour. Oh yeah! She was so fucking late! It wasn't exactly new. Cherri would generally be fashionably late to classes or even hangouts, and sometimes exams as well. But this was something else. She likes Pentious and knowing him, this would break his heart. Fuck! Why was he so sensitive? But then again, that was one of the many things she liked about him.
Cherri and Pentious had been with the group for a long time. Angel who was Cherri's best friend introduced Cherri to Charlie who at the time only had two friends, Vaggie and Pentious. They were all still in the 1st grade back then. Alastor joined their school in 3rd grade alongside his best friends Husk and Niffty. Charlie quickly brought them into the group. They had been inseparable since then. Rosie would occasionally join them. She was Angel's neighbour, Alastor's old time pen pal before he moved to New York from New Orleans and their senior. She was in her final year.
Cherri found Pentious annoying at first. He had the most strange things to say, a lot like Alastor, both of them stuck in the olden ages for some reason. Alastor and Pentious barely talked with each other but they had pulled on some messed up pranks together. Like the one time, they replaced all phones of their friends with old times phones.
How they got their hands on those, one can never know. But if you want to talk to someone with a love for old time technologies and radios, you should go to Pentious, Alastor or Rosie. At least, Rosie and Pentious did have phones, televisions and some new technologies they liked, Alastor would not even touch something that he deemed unworthy.
Pentious was sobbing uncontrollably as he walked through the rain. He was 12 miles away from his house. He wanted a date at the edge of the city and now he was stuck in the freezing rain. It was really cold. He felt like he would die in the amount of cold but he knew he wouldn't. He might be weird but he was a genius. He could calculate things, predict what's going to happen to weather just by looking at the sky and doing quick calculations and his inventions were just a part of his shine.
But right now, he felt broken. If Cherri wanted to stand him up, why did she even say yes. His head was spinning. He should have brought an umbrella or something, the rain was turning into hail. "Fuck!" Pentious screamed as one hit him right on the head. Well if he was gonna die, it was good no one wanted him. Maybe none of his friends or family would miss him. Why would they? No one ever loved him. He felt his vision blur as another hail hit him hard on the head. He lost his balance and fell.
Pentious regretted leaving the cafe till the rain had stopped. His anger and sadness had brought him this close to death. Blood splattered from him as another hail hit him right in the stomach. Well this was surely one way to die. Another hail fell right on his face. He was going to die before someone found him. The pain felt too much. He closed his eyes and let the pain seep in. He accepted death with open arms. He didn't care anymore. No one loved him anyway.
Cherri ran through the hail. She had her bad above her head, protecting her from hail. Her worry for Pentious was increasing with every passing second. Cherri was a star football player at her school and also was training to be a boxer. She was strong and the hail didn't seem to bother her at all. She swiftly moved, sometimes jumping out of the hail's place and not once tripping. She neared the cafe.
A few miles away from the cafe, her eyes fell on a body on the ground. A yellow top with blue jeans and long black hair. "Pentious!" she shouted as she rushed towards him. His head was bleeding and he was covered in hail. "Fuck, fuck, fuck. No. Pentious! Please wake up!" the young girl shivered. She pulled out her phone and called for an ambulance. She then lifted him and stood near a closed shop, waiting for the medics to arrive. Her eyes were filled with tears as she sobbed. This was all her fault. How the fuck did she got late again? If she wasn't late, maybe Pentious wouldn't have ran out like this.
I know, this chapter was shorter than expected but it's because I have targetted 5 chapters today in this story, so don't worry. More will be coming soon in an hour or two. Meanwhile, here's a photo of human Val and Vox I found on Pinterest.

Ngl, they do look good, well apart from Val's hair which is something else, lol. I love that they made Vox heterochromiac (with two different eye colours), they look really pretty. Although, their looks doesn't make me want to punch their faces any less.
Also, I just realised the photo of Husk I used in the prologue was actually Vox so I have to find a photo of a young human Husk and if I can't, I might just draw which will take time as I am not good at drawing and need a lot of work to draw good.
But I have this little spoiler scene for an upcoming chapter called 'The Gift'.
Vox stared at Valentino in confusion. It had been a day since he woke up from a coma. He was already in his angry mood and plotting something. "What the fuck is that?" Velvette asked, pointing at the covered cage, next to Valentino. "Oh, it's a gift for...... someone special." Val replied with a smirk. Vox sighed. "You are going to try and lure that blonde back to you, aren't you?" "You know me too well, Voxxy."
That's it for now. Next chapter coming in one or two hours. Love you all!
