A scream echoed around the hallway as the guy beside me took a blow to the face, stumbling backwards. Drawing back from him, I turned to see a guy standing around 5 foot 7", handsome as hell with sun-kissed skin and dark curly hair peering down at me with furrowed eyebrows and a look of worry in his eyes.
"Are you okay?" he asked me while his eyes dropped to my hands which were by my sides, curled up in fists. He stepped closer to me and placed his arm around my shoulders, pulling me closer to him. I raised an eyebrow and went to look him in the eye, only to find him glaring at the other scumbag.

It hadn't even been an hour into this new school and some stranger had already tried to kiss me and some hot guy saved me. I peeled his arm off me and fixed my collar, walking off without turning back to look at them. As my heels clicked against the wooden floor and into my first class, I could feel people's burning stares.

Looking around, I saw people clustered around the class in little groups with empty seats here and there. With my head held high, I walked to an empty seat in the far corner of the classroom, my heels clicking against the wooden floor as I walked. I sat down and began to empty my bag and its contents onto the desk in front of me before turning my attention to the clock in the centre of the room. It read 8:53am, there were 7 minutes before class was supposed to start. Smiling to myself, I took out a pencil and began to doodle little drawings in the corners of my desk. I was so engaged in my own little world that I hadn't realised that all eyes were now on me.
"Miss Brooke?" Hearing my name, I looked up in confusion to find the room full, and everyone's attention was on me. My eyes darted across the room, searching for a familiar face. They settled on the green pair of eyes staring at me with a smirk  from the desk in front of me; the hot guy from earlier. He mouthed something to me but I just looked at him, confused. What was he saying? Appendix? That made no sense, wait, maybe it was attendance?
"Is Miss Brooke absent?" I heard the teacher call.
I managed to squeak out a "here" before banging my head down on the table in embarrassment. Of course it was attendance. Just how stupid could I be? I groaned in frustration before hearing an amused chuckle. My head shot up, only to find those same green eyes staring at me, his lips now turned upright in amusement. Of course he found my suffering amusing. Once again, I banged my head against the desk.

Not long after, the teacher, who introduced himself as Mr. Martin, announced that we were to get into pairs for our first assignment of the year. I looked up to see everyone pairing up with their friends. I let out a groan in frustration, realising I would probably have to work alone on this before someone poked my arm. Startled, I looked up in surprise to see the guy who tried to kiss me in the corridor.
"Be my partner," he demanded, getting frustrated when I only stared at him blankly.

"Leave her alone, Damien." It was the guy from before, the one who saved me, coming to my rescue once again.
Damien scoffed at the handsome guy, whose name I still didn't know, before walking up to him. "And what are you gonna do if I don't?" he laughed. "Save your little princess?"

By now, there were wandering eyes from across the classroom darting towards us and some began to gather around. Anxious on how this was going to go down, I shrivelled in my seat. Seeing this, Damien wrapped his arm around my neck, crushing it in the process. "Don't worry darling, I'll make sure you end up with me," he smirked. A look of disgust ran across my face.

Suddenly, a fist grabbed him by the shirt and pushed him backwards. "Asher Woods! " Mr. Martin screamed as he ran up to us, "stop this immediately!"
So that was his name; Asher Woods. The sound of people laughing and taking out their phones echoed around before a series of gasps. I whipped my head around just in time to see Asher throw a punch right into Damien's nose. He walked away with his fist stained cherry red, hissing at the pain as Damien stumbled to the floor.

Jumping from my seat, I followed him out of the classroom. "Asher wait! Where are you going?"
He ignored me and continued to walk straight ahead into what seemed to be an empty room. Walking to the doorway, I watched him take out a first aid kit from a drawer and struggle to bandage his knuckles.
"Here, let me do it," I said to him gently as I walked up to him and grabbed his wrist. Feeling his gaze as I finished bandaging his knuckles, I looked up to see him staring at me in pity. "Are you okay?" he asked me worriedly. My eyes widened in surprise, " I should be asking you that, not the other way around." He drew back his wrist as I finished. "I'm fine," he reassured, "it's your neck that was near strangled by that bastard," he sneered. I gave him a soft smile before putting away the first aid kit.
"We should really get back to class soon," I said checking the time.
"There's no point going back there, unless you want to be stared at all lesson," he shrugged.
I thought about it for a second and then began to leave the room with a smile. "Let's go somewhere else then!" He looked at me with confusion before following me. "And where exactly are we going?"
"You'll see when we get there," I laughed as he rolled his eyes.
