Jenni was delighted to have made a new friend on her first day. She had made more friends in that day then she had back at the farm. Her friends there where the hobo that lived in the chicken coop and the cows.
She and Zak walked on down the street back to Maple Dale where they both lived.
"Well I hope this was a great first day for you. One to remember." Said Zak as he stopped in her drive way and flipped his hair majestically.
"Well thank you, Zak. And it is one to remember." Replied Jenni with a smile.
Jenni walked on down her drive way. Past the pretty flowers around it. She waved good-bye to Zak and he waved to her. The two friends parted off to dinner at their own houses.
Jenni's mom stood in the kitchen leaning over a pot of stew.
"Welcome back sweetie," Said Jenni's mom.
"Did you make any new friends today?"
"Yeah, I did," Said Jenni "He was very kind and-"
"He? Was this 'he' quite handsome?" her mother asked.
They both chuckled.
"Yes. Quite handsome indeed. And he is our next door neighbor!"
"Well I'm delighted you have made some new friends. Hurry and get dressed supper is almost ready."
Jenni hurried up to her room. She gasped. Her room was filled with all-new furniture and her closet was filled with new clothing and shoes. She stood in her door way and gaped.
"What is all this?" Asked Jenni, in awe.
"Well since we are going to have a new start why not get some new stuff? I saw your filthy overalls and torn swim suit in your closet earlier and thought you should make a good impression on the people here."
Jenni ran down stairs and hugged her mom tightly. "Thank you so much!"
jenni ran back to her room once more. She searched her closet filled with the most lovely clothing she had ever seen. She pulled out a black trench coat and a leather mini skirt. Jenni looked down to the shoes. She couldn't wait to show off her new stuff to the girls down at the pool tomorrow.
Hurrying down stairs she realized that she would have to go to school tomorrow.
"Uhm mom?" Asked Jenni "Where am I going to school at?"
"Well you would be going to the Kirtle Creek high school." Said her mom. "I can drive you there tomorrow."
"Oh I can't wait." said Jenni. "Living here has been great so far. Though its only been half a day."
She sat and ate dinner while her and her mom talked.
"Do you want a dog?" Asked Jenni's mom.
"You would really let me have one?"
"Of course! I wouldn't want you to get lonely around here. I'm going to be at work for most of the day so I want you have a little friend to take care of while I'm away."
"When can we get a pit bull?" Asked Jenni
"Tomorrow if you want. I have no work that day so I will be able to pick you up from school. We can pick up a pit bull then."
After a while, Jenni brushed her teeth and headed off the bed. She sat there in the silence until she drifted off to sleep, but just then some thing woke her.
It was a loud banging. It sounded as if some one killing a rabbit with it's own foot. Then she began to hear the tune.. And faint singing.
Was it always this loud here? She thought. The music seemed to be coming from Zak's house. She wanted to sneak over and see what was up but she was sure her mom was leaning up against her door, listening to her ever move. She had a clear view of his house. She was up all of that night full of curiosity about what he was doing.
