Fifth year was the year everything went wrong between Severus Snape and Lily Evans, but what people didn't know was it was also the year that James Potter and Lily Evans went right.
"You nothing but a foul--arogant--stupid--git!" Lily Evans saod, hitting the messy haired boy on the shoulder with her Defense Against Dark Arts book.
"All I asked was a question!" James Potter ssid, flinching every time she smacked him with the book.
"He just asked a question!" Sirius repeated.
"He just asked a question!" Peter Pettigrew copied.
"If I needed an echo, I would've asked." Said James and Sirius at the same time.
"Hey!" They both said in unison again.
"Heeeeey!" They said again in unison.
They both laughed, but Young Remus Lupin budded in by giving them his oh-so-famous disappointment look.
James cleared his throat. "So, will you go out with me?"
"No! I thought I made that perfectly clear!" Lily said, not noticing that Sirius was clipping handcuffs to her. "No. No. No. NO!"
"But--but, Lilyflower--"
"Don't call me that!"
"This is the seventh time I asked!"
"Eighth!"
"Who's counting?"
"Eight times, Potter! What dont you understand about no? The N? Or the O?"
"What I don't get is that it isn't 'yes' yet-- SIRIUS?!" James said, finally noticing the handcuff linking his hand to Lily's.
"What?"
"Handcuffs?!" Shreiked Lily.
"What is that a food? Can I eat it?" Jame asked.
"Muggle thingy. I found it on the muggle street! Isn't it amazing what they come up with?"
"Where are the keys?" Lily, who was muggleborn, said in a dangerously low voice.
"K-keys?" said Sirius in an axioms voice, looking at Lily (who hadn't blinked but was just staring) as if she was a lion ready to attack it's predator.
"You don't mean to tell me...that I am stuck to this idiot...because of that idiot's idiot friend...?" She said, still staring.
Sirius gulped. Finally, he made a run for it.
Lily followed, ofcoarse. She was reaching to grab him with her free arm, but something held her back.
James did. He was still sitting where Sirius had left him.
"Come on Potter. We need to get to Defense Against Dark Arts class."
So James and Lily went down two hallways, made one more right, and walked into their last class of the evening.
Their desks were in rows, no partners. Lily and James looked at eachother and gulped.
So they sat next to each other, uncomfortable.
The most uncomfortable moment came when Professor Garwen told them not to hold hands in class. Slytherins laughed as hard as they could and Lily, who was previously shooting cold looks at Sirius from across the room (Sirius sat as far away from Lily as possible. Because he just knew she'd kill him), blushed and put her head down on her desk, embarrassed. She looked like she wished the floor would eat her.
Next they went to the Great Hall to eat dinner. It was complicated because they argued when James wanted the pudding and Lily wanted 'real' food as she called it, according to her pudding was not dinner. But in the end James went to get 'real' food, which included chicken, corn, and greenbeans.
"Make Lily get your food for you, did you?" Sirius teased, but he stopped after Lily gave her another cold look, this time accompanied with a low, growling sound.
Sirius chuckled nervously and finished his meal and went to the common room. Soon after James and Lily came up to the Gryffindor common room.
James started to march up to the boys' dorm where Peter, Remus, Sirius, Taylor and him shared a room.
"Ah, ah ah ah ah." Lily said, rolling her eyes. She held us her wrist which made James raise him. "Hold on. I have an idea. Come here."
They walked up the girls' dorm stairs.
"No. Nu uh! I am not sleeping in the--"
"Shut up, we are sleeping in the common room!"
"Audry, get me my night clothes, will you?" Lily asked.
Lily held her nightgown. "Now we get your night clothes."
James and Lily walked up to the boys room. "Peter, grab my clothes--no, not my robes, you idiot! My night clothes."
"Now commere." Lily said.
She slipped the handcuffs' chain under where the door was above the ground slightly. Both James and Lily where bent down so their wrist could reach the bottom of the door.
"Black, you know what they use these for in the muggle world?"
Sirius shrugged.
"The cops, or 'law enforcements' put these on murderers. And you know, as soon as I get out of these, I'm probably going to need them again, BECAUSE I'M GOING TO MURDER YOU!"
Sirius whimpered.
"Come on, Lilyflower. We should sleep on the couch in the common room." James said, pulling his wrist.
James plopped down on the couch, Lily, to tired to argue, laid on the floor.
After a good two minutes, James sat up. "Lils, you should take the couch."
"Really?"
"Yeah. The floors always been more comfortable to me." James said, laying down on the floor. Lily took the couch.
Not only is his head big, thought Lily, but his heart is pretty big too.
