POV Eliot

"Welcome to the malware programming unit! I'm happy to have someone that actually knows what they're doing." Erin says, looking out of the corner of his eye at a big buff old dude.

"You can shut it! I've been at this company since you were born." He says, swirling his coffee and taking a sip out of it.

He tips his mug and nods at me to say hello. I waved back, giving him a warm smile. They continue to joke around as we make our way to my designated desk. He motions me to sit down and goes look for something. I placed my bag under the desk. My own desk, my own space, and my own job. I feel a sense of pride swell up at these thoughts.

I bring my attention back to see Erin bring over a chair. He had purple dyed shaggy hair. He also had a snake bite piercing on his lips, they were black. His skin was dark mulato, but not completely black. Almost as if the printer ran out of ink. I guess the same could be said about my brown complexion. Now I can't stop laughing at that image in my head.

His eyes were brown and he looked around his mid twenties. He had on a goofy smile that didn't leave his face, not even for a second. He took the tablet on his lap and tapped away to look for something. He awed when he found the file.

"Your name is Eliot?" He asked.

I nod it at him. Who the fuck am I supposed to be then? Curious George? Does he not know who his new hires are? Please tell me he's just trying to make conversation. I hope is that.

"I only have to teach you the company rules. You already know everything that I need to teach you. Which is impressive, that has never happened before. Harold has impeccable judgement as always." He says, looking at me after finishing talking.

I was feeling really happy about everything until he mentioned Harold. His name made my stomach churn when I remembered that he's Amelia's friend. Is he going to tell her everything? I forgot to ask him to not tell her. But, I mean he is pretty smart. He probably got the hint that I don't want anyone to know. I need to talk to him.

That's it. I can ask Erin. If that fails, I can ask my brother. I'll talk to him to make sure we're on the same page. One way or another.

"Ready to learn?" He asked me.

I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at him. I need to focus on my job now. I can think about that later. I nod at him and give him a thumbs up.

"Ready as I'll ever be." I said.

"Let's start then!" He says cheerily.

"That's all for now! You did great today." Erin says, patting my back.

I in fact did not get any time to talk to Harold. There's a lot of new rules that have been implemented in the company. They are using an old software older than the dinosaurs, which I had to learn how to use. I knew the basics, but I wanted to understand it fully. I got stuck with a boss that doesn't know jackshit. Everytime I asked a question he would call the big buff dude over. I found out his name is Anthony and he's a really nice dude.

I know I can be a perfectionist sometimes. Okay, maybe all the time. BUT THAT'S NOT THE POINT! The point is I have an idiot boss. But there has to be something that redeems him. I mean, they wouldn't have just anybody be the director of arguably one of the most important divisions in this company. Right? I give up trying to think about that.
