2:56 am.

It feels as though all eyes are trained on me, a silent scrutiny that weighs heavily on my shoulders.

Being the last to be assigned means that all the other women have been forced to endure the cramped confines of this crowded bus, their impatience palpable in the air.

"Departing for Coordinates A-31 NN99-65," a loud mechanical voice announces over the speakers, its monotone drone adding to the sense of unease that fills the bus.

Throughout the journey, I sit stiffly in my seat, acutely aware of the curious gazes of the other women, their silent scrutiny a constant reminder of my otherness.

After what feels like an eternity, we finally arrive at our destination—a sprawling complex that resembles a cross between a casino and a luxury condominium.

Stepping off the transportation, I am immediately struck by the imposing grandeur of the building, its towering presence casting a shadow over me as I make my way inside.

Navigating the labyrinthine corridors, I eventually find myself in the lobby, where I present the slip of paper bearing the name of my assigned male to the clerks.

Without a word, they guide me to a room and hastily push me inside, leaving me alone in the opulent surroundings of the condo.

"Wow…" I breathe in awe as I drop my belongings on the counter and rush to the window, the expansive view stretching out before me like a breathtaking panorama of the city below.

Taking a moment to savor the luxury of my new surroundings, I allow myself to indulge in the fleeting sense of freedom that comes with it. The soldier hadn't been lying—my new life truly is luxurious.

But just as I begin to settle into my newfound home, the tranquility is shattered by the sound of a click at the front door, followed by the unmistakable noise of someone stumbling inside.

"What's all this? Oh hell yeah! Locked Ones have been assigned!" a voice calls out from the kitchen, its boorish tone laced with drunken excitement.

From the slurred speech and hacking coughs, I can tell that whoever this is, they are intoxicated—an unsettling realization that sends a chill down my spine.

As I stand up from the bed, startled by his sudden entrance, my heart races with apprehension.

In strides another soldier, his stature shorter and less imposing compared to the typical Volmerian standard of beauty.

And certainly not as attractive as my assailant...

"Heyyy, baby-!" he slurs, his speech interrupted by hiccuping.

With arms outstretched and a large bottle clutched in one hand, he lurches towards me, his intentions clear despite his inebriation.

Instinctively, I raise my arms in front of me, a feeble attempt to ward him off, knowing he lacks the coordination to pursue me further.

"What are you doing!" he belches disgustingly, sounding both offended and confused by my resistance.

"You're mine, didn't your instructor tell you how to do your job?" he shouts, his voice growing increasingly angry.

"S-she did... I just think maybe we should get to know each other a little..." I stammer, edging backwards in a futile attempt to create distance between us.

"Before we are so... touchy..." I trail off, my words faltering under the weight of his aggression.

"Alright. Fine," he concedes grudgingly, sinking down onto the bed with a drunken stumble.

Hesitating for only a moment, he suddenly grabs hold of me, pulling me forcefully onto his lap.

"Quit it! Let go of me!" I scream, pounding my fists against his back as he buries his face into my chest.

"Get off!" I shriek, the panic rising within me as I struggle against his grasp, desperation lending strength to my blows.

In a desperate bid for escape, I seize the beer bottle from his hand, smashing it over his head with all the force I can muster.

He releases his hold on me, his eyes glazing over in dazed confusion before he slumps back onto the bed, unconscious.

"Oh shit... he's not..." I panic, frantically checking for a pulse, my fingers trembling as I search for any sign of life.

Unable to discern anything about Volmerian anatomy, I resort to the only thing I know for certain—the throbbing presence of his alien member beneath me.

"Okay... at least he has a pulse..." I mutter to myself, a mixture of relief and revulsion coursing through me as I carefully extricate myself from his inert form, slipping out of the room and shutting the door behind me with a shaky hand.

7:04 am.

After a sleepless night spent perched on the edge of the couch, my gaze fixed unwaveringly on the bustling cityscape below, I am startled awake by the groaning emanating from the bedroom.

"Oh, shit," I mutter under my breath, a sinking feeling settling in the pit of my stomach.

Reacting on instinct, I dart towards the bathroom and hastily shut the door behind me, my heart hammering in my chest as I watch through the crack in the door as he staggers through the kitchen with zombie-like movements before stumbling out through the front door.

As the confirming click of the front door echoes through the apartment, I exhale a sigh of relief, my trembling fingers fumbling to secure the lock behind him.

That was odd—his abrupt departure, as if he had no recollection of the events of last night...

Shaking off the lingering unease, I venture back into the bedroom, my eyes drawn to the object lying on the bed—a thick bracelet with a screen on the front, resembling a futuristic watch.

"Soldiers report to headquarters immediately," a quiet animated voice emanates from the device, its urgent message cutting through the silence of the room. It speaks of a breach in the west wing, specifically the control room—a disturbance that seems to have prompted the sudden departure of all the soldiers this morning.

I shrug nonchalantly, slipping the bracelet into my pocket before shutting the bedroom door firmly behind me—I'd rather not dwell on what transpired in there last night.

Returning to the living room, I set about arranging blankets and pillows on the couch, a makeshift bed for the weary traveler in need of rest. With a weary sigh, I allow my heavy eyelids to droop shut, surrendering to the beckoning embrace of sleep as I finally succumb to exhaustion.
