As the soft morning light filtered through the curtains, I lay nestled in my bed, my favorite playlist filling the room with soothing melodies.
My bedroom was a cozy sanctuary, decorated in shades of soft pastels and adorned with twinkling fairy lights that cast a warm glow across the space. Plush pillows and a fluffy comforter enveloped me in a cocoon of comfort, while a scattering of books and trinkets added a personal touch to the room.
Lost in the rhythm of the music, my peaceful reverie was interrupted by the familiar chime of a text message. With a sigh, I reached for my phone, the screen lighting up with Antonio's name. For a moment, I hesitated, my thumb hovering over the screen as I debated whether to respond.
But as I read the message from the notification bar, a wave of uncertainty washed over me. With a heavy heart, I made the decision to ignore it, setting my phone aside and burying myself deeper into the cocoon of my blankets.
Today, I needed time for myself, away from the complications and uncertainties of the outside world.
As I made my way downstairs, passing by my dad's office, I caught sight of him hunched over his desk, surrounded by stacks of papers. He looked up as I passed, calling my name, and I couldn't help but pause, curiosity piqued, before stepping into his office and taking a seat in front of him.
"Hey, Dad," I greeted him, offering a small smile.
"Hey, sweetheart," he replied, returning the smile. "How's the tutoring going? Are you enjoying it?"
I nodded eagerly. "Yeah, it's going really well. Mr. De Luca is a great teacher."
My dad's eyes lit up at my response. "I'm glad to hear that. I always knew Jonathan would do a good job."
His mention of Jonathan piqued my interest, and I couldn't help but ask, "How did you two became friends?"
He chuckled softly, leaning back in his chair. "Well, we met during an office party your mom and I attended."
As he spoke, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride in my dad's job. He worked at a prestigious law firm, and the thought of him mingling with important people like Jonathan De Luca filled me with admiration.
"We became acquainted, and he's been a good friend of mine ever since," my dad continued, a fond smile playing at his lips. "I've known him for more than seven years now."
I nodded, absorbing his words with interest.
With a warm smile, I rose from my seat, feeling a sense of gratitude for the glimpse into my dad's past and now knowing more info on him.
As I made my way out, I glanced back to see my dad returning to his papers, a sense of contentment settling over me. Despite the hustle and bustle of his work, I knew that family always came first for him, and I couldn't help but feel grateful for his unwavering support and love.
