Kyla is at the apartment washing dishes while Joshua is with The8 to help out on some things until she gets a phonecall from her mom which gets her confused at first, but then she utters shit silently before thinking about what she should do before using her elbow to answer the phone & puts it on speaker

"Hello?" "Hey baby" "Mom, what a convenient surprise"

Kyla didn't feel too convinced at all, like what would her mom basically want at a time like this exactly?

"What? I can't call my daughter?" "It's not that, I'm just washing dishes" "You at your dorm?" "No, I'm at my friend's" "Huh, I didn't think you were staying with a friend" "Just think of it as keeping it on the down low" "True true, hey honey" "Yeah?" "I had thought about it & thought it be necessary if you & that handsome guy of yours come over for dinner this weekend?"

Kyla's eyes widen in shock that it was kind of obvious that they want to meet Joshua & see if he's the right fit for her. Without understanding what to say entirely, she says, "uhhh, s - sure when did you say you wanted to meet him?" "Friday I guess" "That'll do" "Great, I love you sweetheart" "I love you too mom"

An hour later Joshua comes home to see Kyla poking her belly which makes him chuckle a bit as he sits next on the couch & lays on it as she messes around with his hair a bit

"How was your guys day?" "It was pretty good did you enjoy your home alone?" "Yeah, I just did some cleaning that's all. Oh by the way, my mom called me & invited us for dinner this weekend" "For real?" "Yeah" "I'm down to meet your family, I mean we're free anyway & our appointment is in the afternoon anyway, so we're free to gear up anyway" "I forgot about that" "Don't worry about it, I just can't wait to see our baby"

That made Kyla smile instantly. "Our baby." At this point, it looks like it's already starting to hit them already & it's changing them for pretty much the long run, so parenthood is about to be a hell of a roller coaster
