The air was cool, dark and the grass was soft it felt like it was warming her up. But why was she on the grass? She sat up straight. She tried to remember why it was dark, why the air was cool and why the grass was soft. Retracing the steps in her brain, everything went blank as she tried her best to remember. Remember anything.

Standing up, looking around to see if there was any familiar surroundings as she dusted off the dirt on her pants... Since when was she wearing pants? All of this didn't make any sense. It freaked her out and not knowing anything didn't help.

The pacing around in the dark forest wasn't getting anywhere and certainly wasn't helping her remember. She couldn't even remember what she was wearing but she knew for sure it wasn't pants.

Stand and breathe. Taking in a deep breath, the air was crisp and all that could be heard were the owls stalking the night. Standing here, nothing was going to happen so she started walking.

The forest was large, everywhere she looked; ferns, wildflowers, mushrooms. There was no living creature in sight which worried her a bit more. The smell of the wet earth and seeing droppings of water on the leaves- it must've rained here.

She was nervous, obviously. Someone where it was a foreign land to them and not remembering a thing about yourself? Shouldn't everybody be scared in that situation? Thinking to herself as her bare feet left the grass patch and onto the forest floor of dirt and earth.

Her eyes tried the best not to linger on the edges on the forest, something about it here wasn't... welcoming. Every once in a while, some sounds could be heard that she did not make. Her pace would speed up a bit at that. She hugged herself to stay warm, it must be fall as she could tell by the way the leaves were already changing colors. She didn't remember it being fall though.

It did take some time before the sky turned from leaves to stars. Seeing more clearly now, if she knew anything; it was that she was far from home. The view that the forest never gave was breathtaking. Still hugging herself, she saw many different things in the land beyond her.

Her feet almost touched the water below her before it flowed into a lake that surrounded a castle. The castle was no small by any means. The size of it almost intimidated her, like it knew she was an outsider. But she also knew better than to go into a strange castle. Though, what else could she possibly do? Wait in the dark forest for a knight in shining armor to come save her?

What better option was there than to head into a foreign land with no memory.
