Caden’s POV. - now

“How are the nerves?” I chuckled as I approached Tim who stood outside of the church to greet everyone. His hands were nervously clasped together, everyone dressed in the most fancy clothes walking us by.

The church bells were ringing and Tim ran a nervous hand through his hair, “This is fucking horrible. Honestly, when I proposed, I didn’t think of this.”

I smiled and patted his shoulder, “You’re gonna do great, it’s gonna be perfect.”

“What if I forget my vows?” Tim blurted, his eyes wide and panicked before he patted the pockets of his suit rapidly, exhaling a relieved breath, “Fuck, here they are.”

I threw my head back in a chuckle, “Tim, you’re great. She’s gonna look gorgeous and you’re both gonna love it.”

“I just want everything to go right.” He exhaled, forcing polite smiles at everyone who walked into the church, “I wanna see her, I know it’ll make everything better.”

I smiled softly, trying to imagine what it was like to feel so comforted by another person.

“Oh, Roan’s here.” Tim breathed, glancing behind me. I turned around quicker than lightning at the mention of Roan, and felt like I had been punched in the gut when I laid eyes on her.

She awkwardly stood at the door of the church, peeking inside until she saw us. Her face lit up and she hesitantly walked in, “Hi.” She smiled widely.

I couldn’t really form words, inhaling the cloud of perfume that hung around Roan. She shot me a small smile and then went on to hug Tim, “Oh my god, you look amazing. This suit is gorgeous.” She placed a hand on his shoulder and fixed the flower in the buttonhole a little. Tim smiled, “Yeah? Thanks. Brianna actually picked it out.”

“She has great taste.” Roan seemingly calmed him down a bit and I had to admit she had the same effect on me. I refused to compare it to what Tim had just said about Brianna, but I swallowed thickly when my eyes dragged up and down Roan’s form twice.

She wore a beige silk dress that reached halfway down her calves. It had a small cinch in the waist and little cuff sleeves, and she looked classy and beautiful. Her blonde locks were pulled up with a dark green claw clip, just a few strands of hair framing her face.

And her lips were red, matching her nails. She wore minimal jewelry, just a few rings and small silver hoops in her ears.

She looked devastatingly beautiful.

I forced another smile at her as Tim went on to greet other people.

“Hi.” Roan breathed, almost not sure what to do with her hands as she fiddled a bit, “I-I texted you, I wasn’t sure where you were.”

“Oh, shit, sorry, my phone is on silent.” I swiftly pulled it out, “Didn’t want to be the guy who’s phone rings while I’m in church.” I joked and Roan smiled softly, “Right. No problem. Have you been here long?”

“No, just a few minutes.” I shrugged before I stuffed my hands in the pockets of my dress pants, “You - uh… you look amazing.”

“Huh?” Roan sounded surprised, raising her brows as she blinked at me. A soft pink rose up her cheeks, immediately making my skin turn the same color and she pressed her lips together, “Thank you. Uh - yeah, you look good too. I like the suit.”

“Oh, this?” I breathed, shrugging, “Just something I had laying around.”

The small joke broke the tension and Roan and I stared at one another until I scratched the back of my neck nervously, “Do you wanna sit together?”
