Chapter 16

Fast forward to Minji's birthday, they were all gathered at Jeongguk's house, hastily putting up decorations. A while later the doorbell, which meant Minji was back from daycare with Jin. 

They stood near the door as the lock clicked and all shouted "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!". Minji just looked around the place that was decorated with balloons and party streamers. 

"You did this for me?" she said with tears in her eyes, 

"Of course, who's the birthday girl here?" Taehyung said as he pulled her in for a hug which she happily reciprocated with the same emotion. 

"Now, let's cut the cake people" Jin shouted as he brought in the two-tiered cake. 

Minji gasped as she saw the cake and looked at Taehyung with a 'Are you serious?' look, 

"This is all to make up for your past birthdays, where Mother was never there and we had you celebrate with a small cupcake I'd get from the café and the same drawing book I'd gift you every birthday, and the walks we used to go on after cutting the cake."

 Taehyung said with tears in his eyes, 

"You don't have to feel sorry at all, Tae-tae. Besides, that's all behind us now and now I have you guys as a family" she said as she hugged Jeongguk. 

"That was so sweet-" 

"Let's cut the cake" Jimin yelled out of nowhere as the rest of them laughed and sang happy birthday and cut Minji's cake. 

After all the celebration and a nice dinner, Minji walked up to Taehyung and asked, 

"Tae-tae, wanna go for a walk with me?" 

"Sure, I would love to," he said as he held her hand and led her out of the house. 

"Jeonggukie, Minji and I are going for a walk." 

"For a long walk," Minji winked at Jeongguk and closed the door behind her. 

"We have one hour to do this, let's go people"

Taehyung and Minji walked to their favourite spot, which was a bench under a big, banyan tree. They sat down as they took a walk down memory lane and reminisced all of the happy memories they'd made over the years. 

"Minji-ah come here"

 he extended his arms asking for a hug. She happily hugged him as he whispered, 

"Minji-ah I'm sorry you had to go through all that."

"What are you sorry for, it was that bitch's fault." He gasped and said, 

"Hey, no cursing young lady. But since it was for Mother, I'll allow it but just this once." 

He added with a laugh and pulled away from the hug. 

"You're so strong, Minji. I love you." He said with a sweet kiss on her forehead to which she smiled and said,

 "I love you too, Tae-tae." They sat under the tree for a while, talking about all the happy things in their life.

 "Oh, shoot we need to get back, it's almost twelve." They walked back to the house and when they reached the front door, Minji held Taehyung's hand and said, 

"Tae-tae, I'm so proud of you. You've sacrificed your happiness and childhood for me and I appreciate and love you for it. Now, it's your time to be happy and live life to the fullest. I love you, hyungie"

 At that moment she opened the door, and they walked into a dark room. He looked at Minji with a puzzled look and she motioned him to go ahead. 

He walked further into the house and music suddenly started playing, and Taehyung heard a soft voice singing a song. And Jeongguk came into the spotlight holding a mic.
