I blinked my eyes open to the ceiling of my bedroom, the loud beeping of my alarm clock blasting nonstop from its place on my nightstand.
I sit up and tilt my head confusingly at the tiny noisy machine illuminating the numbers seven fifteen to my left.
"Fifteen minutes past. How come I didn't hear you going off you little sleep wrecker?"
I reach my hand out to lightly tap on it, as if it were broken or something, then move to close it with a small sigh.
"What am I saying, I must have been the one to have overslept this morning." I turn my head around in search of Sunny for confirmation, but its seems that he was yet again back at it for round two of hide and seek with me.
I flip over my covers and look under my pillows for him, but I still couldn't catch any sight of him.
"Hmm..." I sat still for a moment, pondering about all the possibilities of his whereabouts.
They were of limited options of course, so I went with the only logical pick and instinctively laid down on my tummy to look below my bed to see if he might have fallen off in the middle of the night, where low and behold, there was Sunny lying face flat on the wooden floorboards of my bedroom.
I grab hold of him and leveled him up to my face.
"I'm afraid you won't get away with hiding this time Sunny," I told him a bit sternly, "But hey, at least one of us got to have an early start to their day, am I right?"
"Celia! Are you still asleep up there!" Shot my dad from downstairs. "I've been calling you nonstop! We'll be late if you don't start getting ready now!"
"I'm up!" I almost instantly answer back, my mind feeling wide awake right now.
Leaving Sunny comfortably seated against the cushions of my pillows, I jump out of bed to rush and get ready for school, pulling on a flower patterned white cardigan with jeans from my closet then quickly glancing at myself in the bathroom mirror, eyes squinted at my unkept wavy brown hair that fell right below my shoulders.
I deliberated between leaving it styled down or up for today, my mind going back and forth for what seemed like ages, when I grab a brush to neatly tie my hair up, settling on a high ponytail.
After adjusting my bangs a little bit more, I give myself one final look over in the mirror before leaving its frame to go snatch my school bag from above my desk and joining my parents downstairs.
"Looky here! Somebody decided to finally show their face this morning." Joked Dad from over the living room couches.
I looked at him and automatically mirrored his smile in order to hide my impending frown.
"Good morning to you too Dad." I replied back, eyes drifting to inspect the stylish work attire he had on.
A lovely navy blue suit with a matching tie that he was currently fixing around his collar, set with a white button up to go. If I didn't know better, I would have thought he was eager to jump right into work the instant he steps foot at his firm. If not from how he feels internally, then at least from how he wields himself externally
"You're looking quite fancy today." I honestly complimented.
"Why thank you," Beamed Dad appreciatingly, securing his now perfectly made tie. "Your mother and I are starting work again from today, so we've got to pack a punch for our first impression at our new firm."
I got my head to nod, against my hearts better judgment.
"I see...that's nice."
"I made your school lunch for you today, it's right there on the kitchen counter." Pointed Dad with his head.
