As he walked through the streets of his city, there was a war going on. Although he lived in the slums of his city, they were building power plants, you could get all sorts of harmful diseases from those chemicals. he knew he was better. He was watching men go into war by 100 fold.he had a hole in his core, his centre. He was daydreaming, quite a lot too. He was watching the trucks holding soldiers ready to fight, fresh men. Although he was unemployed and a drinker, he was very smart, Nikola.

Something snapped inside him, he saw a woman get pushed into the road by a boyfriend or husband when he was watching the trucks. He stopped being slow and sprinted to save the young lady. He held her in his hands "you are quite a handsome chap indeed"

"My goodness, I'm not used to such flattery, will you give me a second" he dropped the woman on the ground and strutted to the other side to the maniac who pushed the young lady into the busy street. "You should be ashamed of yourself! You almost put this woman in danger" the man didn't say anything, he just stared in silence. His uniform read 'Mathews'. Nikola inferred that this was a man who served in the war but this was no exception "you should be disappointed in your self, you should be showing a good example wearing a uniform like that, you make me sick!"

"I should teach you a lesson boy" shivers went down his spine.

"Teach me then 'boy'." 1 swing, 2 swing, 3 swing, the veteran was punching him like a bag of hay.

After that incident Nikola and the woman went to a nearby diner. "You said you've never received compliments from anyone before, why is that. If it makes you feel better you could give a young lady like me a heart attack."

"I must warn you miss, if you are trying to seduce me, I get mean when I'm nervous like a bad dog"

"I am doing no such thing".

"I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to offend you" the man looked up and smiled at the woman with blood dripping down his face. "What's your name miss".

"Why should I tell you!" She shouted gaining attention from nearby tables.

"I did save your life, didn't I?"

"Florence and yours"

"Nikola, Florence I am of low standing in todays society just so you know."

"I know, I'm not stupid, your filthy!" She laughed, a car beeped from outside calling the woman in. "Florence! When will I see you again my dear"
"I don't know! Write to me Nikola" she screamed while leaving the diner.

"I will Florence, I will"
