PIERRE'S POV

Thursday morning before the Las Vegas Grand Prix

She wasn't picking up. Fuck.

I'd been dialing her number for hours. Sent countless text messages.

It was 3am, and I knew her alarm would be set for 5am. If I just kept calling, I could get to her first. I had to get to her first.

"Pierre, stop dialing the phone. You need to listen to me," Jess called to me from her spot on the couch as I paced in front of her. "Pierre! Stop!"

When I left the club, I immediately went to Jess. I knew this was going to be bad, and I needed to get to someone who could help me.

She'd been asleep when I'd banged on her door, and it took several minutes for her brain to catch up to what I was telling her. The first look she'd given me when I told her that Jasmine kissed me was one of disbelief, but as I laid out everything that had been happening the last few months with Carlos, she'd come around. I wasn't totally sure she believed me completely, but it seemed like it was enough to at least help me.

And in the last four hours, Jess had done what she did best. She started to fix my mess.

The first, and hardest, call was to Andre and my team principle. She told them what was going on, and we all agreed to move the contract announcement to the end of the weekend, with the hopes that things would calm down a bit. Then, she'd started drafting a statement for my socials and the team to distribute.

All through it, I kept dialing my damn phone, praying for Ellie to answer.

"I can't stop Jess! I have to talk to her. Should I go to her? If I get on a plane now, I can be in LA in a couple hours. I'll be back for practice tomorrow. I'll pay the fine for skipping media day," I rambled and started to look for flights.

This was a good plan. Seeing her in person was my best chance at ensuring she knew I was telling the truth. She could look in my eyes and know I wasn't lying to her.

"No. You cannot leave Pierre," Jess said firmly and got up. "You're going to need to do a lot of work today. Running away will make you seem guilty. We'll talk to Jess and Marie, align on a statement, and reinforce that you and Ellie are happy and together. But if you disappear, then no one can hear your side of things."

Fuck. I knew she was right. I would need to face the music, no matter how bad it would be. But I could do it with Ellie by my side.

"You're right. Fuck. But it will be fine. I'll talk to Ellie, and it will be fine," I said, more to myself than Jess but I could see her nodding.

Before we could talk more, her phone rang, and I could see her breath out a sigh of relief as she looked at the caller ID.

"Finally. It's Sadie," she announced and began the call, putting it on speaker phone.

"Sadie, have you seen it?" Jess began without greeting, ready to go through their plan.

"Have I seen it? Have I fucking seen it? Are you fucking kidding me, Jess!" Sadie raged through the phone, and I winced. I'd never heard Sadie this upset before.

"I know it's bad, but," Jess tried to reply, but Sadie wouldn't let her.

"I knew this was a fucking bad idea. I knew that none of you could be trusted. How the fuck could he do this? He's disgusting!" Sadie continued, her fury clear through the phone and I felt smaller than I ever had.

"Sadie," Jess tried again, but the other woman was on a roll.

"The stunt is off! We're done with all of you!"
