"I have a perfect plan. Let her use the card like wild and he will contact." Daphne suggested,
It had been a week and Emilio hadn't contacted her. And, her dad was going crazy about this situation. He wonders if she has done something wrong. "I don't think it is a good plan. I will use the card if I want to buy something."
"She is right. I think you have ruined it and is lying about it. What? Are you scared that he will get his card back and you will be exposed?" Her dad asked and Maria was shocked. She wonders why her dad is always the first one to doubt her.
"No, Dad. He said he was busy. I did tell you his plans for having a simple wedding. I have told you everything. All the details."
"And, you haven't told him about your condition?" Her father asked and Maria nodded. "Yes, I haven't." Maria didn't want trouble by admitting she had told Emilio about it. He didn't look like he cared. She was sure he wouldn't bring this up in front of her dad.
"Yes, we get he is a busy man, and all he cares about is work. But if he is working so much he won't mind replacing the time he can't give you with money? Why don't you spend it heavily? If he doesn't contact you it means he is still willing to spend on you." Daphne was persistent.
"What's this reasoning?" Maria resisted but her dad was quick to interrupt. "She is right, Maria. Spend like crazy. And, if he made a fuss about it he can block it or you can return the things in the morning. You should test him."
Maria was convinced they wanted to embarrass her. She went on to shop in the high-end stores with Daphne who was quick to pick the bags, perfumes, and shoes. She even paid for the services to get their bags carried. The moment Maria looked at the total of forty-four thousand she was beyond embarrassed. They walked out to notice Tiffany. Daphne pulled Maria into the store and walked straight into the VIP section.
"I don't think it is a great idea." Maria reminded but Daphne was quick to hiss. "Shut up, at least live the experience."
Daphne never asked for the price but the assistant was happy to help making a subtle mention of how great it was a deal. And, when that assistant didn't notice Daphne falter she showed even more premium items.
Daphne ordered one to be made while picking a diamond wristwatch along with a diamond necklace and studs. It totaled sixty thousand and Maria was having a serious panic now. She didn't want to ruin things with Emilio but it seems Daphne wanted to destroy it all.
"If he didn't say a word now. Just know you will get to marry him for real." Daphne said while starting the car engine and racing it to their place. They had spent a little over a hundred grand. Maria waited every single moment for Emilio to call but there was none. At the dinner table, everyone was waiting for Emilio to call her but it never came.
It was around nine and a sudden guilt pang made Maria to write a text to him. "I went shopping today. It got a little over than I had imagined. Have you not checked your messages from the bank?" Maria was rolling on the bed after sending him this text.
She waited for five long minutes before her phone chimed with the call. "Hello," She spoke and Emilio replied, "I do check my messages from the bank. I hope it is not for you to show me what you have bought. I am afraid I don't want that kind of relationship between us." Maria took a moment to realize he hadn't made money an issue. But knowing that he wasn't interested to see her in what she had bought made her a little disappointed.
"Why? You had a lot to say about my clothing. Won't it be better that you see what I have bought?"
"I will let you be the judge of it until I can't approve it. Is there anything else you want to ask?" Emilio seemed to be in a hurry.
