The Awakening.
After the hearty banquet, Yan took a stroll around the grounds of the high Chieftains lodge.
He watched the sun relinquish the sky to the moon and ebb beyond the horizon beneath the flaming clouds and whilst he admired the spectacle his solitude was interrupted by the slender figure of Casusas.
"Do you mind if I join you?" She asked politely, to which the young wizard respectfully consented.
"I hope you don't mind my saying this, but I could not help but notice your strange aloofness since my reappearance today. I thought you and I were simpatico Mr Yan" she said in her usual alluring mellifluous tone".
"I am not who I once was" replied Yan nonchalantly. "What once troubled me then no longer stirs enmity in me now".
"Why the sudden change of heart?" The Brag enquired.
"I am here to full fill the will of the Gewinnan" he replied apathetically gazing out across the hills with a stony stare.
Just then Athel appeared.
"My dear Casusas, I've been looking for you, won't you join us by the fire?" he asked.
"I will shortly Athel" she replied.
Athel looked agitated by her response and persisted in his demand.
"I think we should leave Mr Yan, I'm sure he is quite content to ruminate in peace".
Casusas could sense from Athel's tone that the invitation was not a request but a subtle demand and so she politely bid good evening to the young wizard before retiring from his company and leaving him contemplatively alone.
"There is something you should be aware of" whispered Athel, ushering the slender Brag away from the ears of Yan.
"We experienced some confrontation on the voyage over from our enchanted friend and so I had no choice but to sedate his factious nature with a potion for the benefit of the company and the operation.
You may find him a little subdued and unresponsive at times, but it should help calm him down for a while".
"Well, I'm sure you know what you are doing Athel" said Casusas looking over at the stolid figure of Yan before returning to the chieftain's residence where Doowun, Demir and Plegan sat huddled around a roaring fire pit.
"Well, this is indeed a wonderful place and worthy of the ostentatious living we goblins are accustomed to" chuckled Demir, raising his flagon of mead and spilling some on Doowun's head.
Doowun was in good spirits too and took no offence to his brethren's clumsiness, in fact everyone was enjoying the fire and hospitality until the high chieftain entered the room.
Plegan stood courteously but was asked kindly to remain seated by the chieftain.
"Well, here we are at last" said the chieftain takin his place around the roaring hearth.
"You know that your name travels far and wide" he beamed whilst scouring the room for an absent guest.
"Where is the young wizard?" He asked perplexed.
"Mr Yan shall be joining us shortly" replied Athel. " He has just gone to get some fresh air".
"Well may I start by complimenting you all on your impressive display in the arena today, it was quite remarkable to witness such strength and skill in action".
