~ Birds X Of a X Feather
Fearsome monsters, exotic creatures, vast riches, hidden treasures, evil enclaves, unexplored lands. The word "unknown" holds bewitching magic. Naturally, some are drawn to that magic, known as Hunters.
That was what the contestants had envisioned signing up for the Hunter exam. The surprise the contestants had faced when they find each of themselves jogging after an examiner for the past hour, aimlessly running in a dark tunnel with around four hundred other people. They couldn't help, but feel a least bit silly. So far, nothing acted according how they encounter, including the examiner, who walked in the most fascinating manner, his steps barely touches the ground as he effortlessly strides forward, and yet somehow is faster than all of them.
Amongst the pitter-patter of rushing footsteps, the sound of wheels disrupted the consistency. Killua idly rode along on his skateboard.
"Hey you, stop cheating and get off your skateboard! This is an endurance test!" Someone yelled angrily from behind.
A younger voice chipped in. "Leorio, the examiner only said to follow him, he didn't say it was an endurance test." Gon responded.
"Gon, who's side are you on? Eh?!" The man known as Leorio yelled angrily, nostrils flaring. He looked the oldest out of the blonde and Gon, yet seemed the most immature.
"No one's." The boy answered as Killua lined himself next to Gon, the kid who butted in with the commotion earlier, Killua had noted.
"Hey, how old are you?" Killua once more returned to innocent curiosity.
"I'm twelve years old." Replied Gon, who looked just as excited to meet another kid.
Killua's gaze lingered a little longer. "Hmm." Once again Killua performed his trick as he flipped his skateboard flying before catching it mid-air while landing on his feet. All done in one swift motion. "Guess I'll run too."
"Woah," Gon marvelled, completely ignoring Leorio's rant from behind. "That was so cool!"
"I'm Killua."
"I'm Gon."
And not far from the scene of a new friendship, was Leorio clenching his teeth from behind. "Damn kids. Making a fool out of me." He said between grunts.

The second hour passed. Then the third crept by.
Fourth hour followed then five. It felt like an never ending tunnel stretching before them. Even then, the examiner didn't break a sweat, accelerating at a steady pace.It was a different story for the contestants.
They were dropping like flies. The weaker population of the group were both physically and mentally strained, just barely holding on. Leorio was one of the them.
His movements became sluggish, his fatigue evident, a sheen of sweat covering his skin.
One every three years. Was the probability of a rookie passing the Hunter exam.
The warning flashed in his mind at an unfitting timing. He panted and huffed, why would a normal man like him ever pass.
As if Gon had sensed his self destruction, Gon slowed down some distance ahead of him. Killua stopped alongside him, puzzled on the purpose of waiting for a weakling like Leorio. "Gon? Let's go."
Leorio had now dropped his suitcase, his willpower eating away.
Thirty seconds slipped away and Killua thought of nothing. Until Leorio looked up and ahead. "As if." Leorio muttered and as if his energy was completely restored, he bolted forwards.
