Sands Of Darkness (Arlu, World Of Dragons)

Chapter 1

It was early morning, the sun rising slowly behind the mountain that sent a long shadow as far as she could see.

The Royal mountain, the largest mountain there is on the planet Arlu and home to royalty from when dragons first found this planet, it was powering to stand in the only opening to the confusing cave system.

Her wings slowly folded closer to her pastel pink scales as Queen Albino thought about the list of things she needed to fix or finish, there were multiple things that had yet to be done to resolve past problems.

'The wyverns have been acting up since I became Queen, hopefully the upcoming meeting will help to stop future problems from happening...' She thought, quickly looking behind her before turning to watch a few small birds flutter around.

'Not to mention Blacklight... She has been causing problems for a long time, I do have to wonder why the other royals haven't dealt with them beforehand.' Queen Albino continued, watching as a group of birds circled around something she couldn't determine before snatching them up.

'What else?' Her snout scrunched up as she tried to remember the main things she needed to complete this year.

'Deal with the recent problem of dragons stealing from the drakes, finish the sentences of dragons that partook in the war, kill off any corruption and check up on the planets that the watchers are keeping an eye on...' With that last thought Queen Albino hears the recognizable sound of talons hitting stone.

'Click. Click. Clack! Click.'

Queen Albino turned with a smile as she spotted purple scales out of the corner of her eyes,Portal was her love and the one she knows she will be with for the rest of her life.

"Sorry about being late, I had to clean up an ink spill and wash my talons..." King Portal said with a nervous chuckle as he stopped next to Albino.

She returned his chuckle as they gave each other a snout boop and moved her tail too wind lovingly around his.

"You got the books?" Albino asked with a smile as she watched a small bird land not far from where the two dragons sat on the cool gray stone, the sun had risen a bit more making the ledge glow with a bright golden yellow light.

"Yep!" Portal replied, patting a dull red leather bag that hug slightly below his left shoulder that let out a light thump as the books inside rattled around from the movement, he then quickly pushed his glasses closer to his eyes before standing up and walking towards the cave ledge.

Queen Albino followed with a swish of her tail as the two opened their wings wide and erupted into the lightning blue, cloudless sky filled with early morning dragons and birds.

As they breezed through the mostly empty sky with their wings slicing through the wind like water, Queen Albino's snout grew a cheeky grin as she touched her mates wings with her wing tip as the group below changed from stone gray to grass green.

King Portal let out a surprised yelp before growling playfully and returning the gesture, quickly flying above and around with a twirl before she could try to tap his wings once again.

With a giggle she swished in a roll underneath him as he tried to dodge once again and quickly grabbed his talons before fishing the roll with him ending up upside down.

He laughed as he wiggled his talons out of her grip and righted himself to fly beside each other, Albino smile reached all the way to her eyes as she spotted the Screaming Lake in the distance and nudged her mate's wing with humor.

Portal grinned as they turned slightly to the left and started flying down toward a dark gap in the grassy field a long walk from the lake, landing with a light thud that sent leaves flying around.
