*Prologue*

Pow! Pow! Pow! All I could hear we're gunshots throughout the club. I looked behind me to make sure Devin was still behind me. He grabbed my hand and we both started to run towards the exit of the club. I stopped running because I felt his hand let go of mine. I turned around and looked down to the ground and I saw Devin laying on the floor covered in blood."Oh my god, Devin. Somebody help me!!!! Please baby, don't die on me tonight. I need you to stay alive for me. Not just for me, for your daughter. Help me somebody please!!!" I cried holding on to him as if I was never going to see him again. No one helped. No one even tried to stop and help us, instead they continued to run and step over us like we were nobody.

Tia POV

"Tt!!! Get up and get ready for school." My mom screamed through my bedroom door. I raised up and sat on the side of my bed. I didn't want to get up but I had to get some type of education. I got up off the bed and grabbed my robe and a bath towel to get into shower and headed towards my bathroom. I hopped in the shower for about fifteen minutes. I got out and put on my pink robe and walked back into my room.

I started to look through all of my clothes in my closet for something to wear. Then I hear a knock at my bedroom door. I opened the door aggressively. "What!" I yelled irritated. It was my older brother Treyvon. "What you want Trey?" I asked not even wanting to argue with him this morning. "Can I borrow 20 dollars?" He asked holding his hand out. My brother is 19 and out of school. He has dreads and he's kind of dark skin. He doesn't have a job and he always asking me for money. He's always in the streets and he ain't never moved out. He need to though."What you need 20 dollars for Trey. I'm tired of giving you money. What am I going to have if I keep giving you my money damn!!!" I grabbed my wallet and opened it and pulled out a twenty dollar bill and gave it to him. "Now get out so I can get ready for school." I said giving him a look that meant getcho ass out. "Thanks sis, you my nigga." he said as he walked out of my room. I continued to look for something to wear and I finally came up on my outfit. I picked out some black leggings with grey roses all over them and a white sweat shirt. Im going to get my black beanie to put on my head, my gold necklace and some gold earrings. Let me tell it shit I look good. I grabbed my deodorant and applied it to my under arms. I don't know why I put deodorant on after I put my clothes on, I just do.

I took one last look in the mirror and walked out of my bedroom into the living room. "Mom, I'm about to head to school, you need any-" I looked up midsentence and saw her face. She had a black eye and a busted lip. "Oh my god mama. You can't keep letting him do this to you. You need to start fighting back." I urged her as I sat down on the couch beside her. "Aw honey your daddy was just angry, that's all." She always says this when my daddy hits her. He's a drunk and he beats on my mother occasionally. One day I will shoot his ass myself whenever I get a gun.

"Just because he's mad doesn't give him the right to put his hands on you. Mama you can't be scared of him. He ain't nobody. Sooner or later, you gone get tired of him hitting you and one day you just gone go ham on him." I said hoping it be sooner that she kick his ass out. She just looked at me with tears in her eyes. "Don't cry mama, it will get better. I love you mama." I said as I got up and hugged her and then headed out the door.

I stepped outside and just looked around at my neighborhood and grew a disgusted look upon my face. Where we live at is just plain reckless. Gun violence happens almost everyday. Gangs be selling dope and stuff. It's just bad. I looked around for any dogs because somehow I always seemed to get chased by one. Once I didn't see any, I started to walk to school like I do everyday. I couldn't even get down the street without some nigga trying to get at me. But this dude was cute though. He was lightskinned with a fresh haircut. He pulled up beside me in a black on black Bentley Coupe. He looked familiar. As I walked he slowly drove beside me. "Wassup Ma. You need a ride?" he said as he was hanging one arm out of the window. His voice was so sexy but I wasn't bout to be another girl for him to just fuck and dump. So I kept strutting on. I could tell he was admiring me from the corner of my eye. "Why you playing, you know you want to talk to me. It's cool though, I'll see you around" Then he sped off down the road bumping Young Dolph- Preach.
